The butcher where I get bones from for my 9 month GR - she's not raw fed just enjoys a bone now and then or a chicken wing- well he's sent her a pigs trotter saying she would enjoy it ! Can I give her this, do I give it raw and do I cut it in half to make two bits.

Trotters are quite fatty. For this reason I wouldn't give it to a dog with a sensitive tum, but my goldie has had them several times, she loves them and tolerates pork fine. Definitely give raw, cooking will make the bones dangerous. I would give whole and supervise :)

Never given these as the small bones inside would be swallowed whole by my Bernese.

I feed raw & sometimes give pig's trotters as a treat - raw of course.   They go down really well & don't upset their stomachs at all.  If not in the UK then you need to be more careful as there is an organism endemic in European pork which means it shouldn't be fed to dogs.

My butcher gives me both pigs trotters and sometimes a head or half head too, my cockers love them with no bad effects ! Fed raw and whole only.

My girls have a lot of raw meat and bones, although not entirely raw fed - pigs trotters are a no no with mine, upset tummies all round. I think they are too fatty for them. My Golden has a particularly sensitive tum, but some dogs may well tolerate all the fat ok.
Trial and error! :)

All three of mine are a bit iffy on pork and get upset stomachs.  They can just about manage small amounts such as a chop or belly strips but anything bigger is off the menu here.

Does she chew til she's finished?  If she is inclined to take a rest part way through you could remove the remains til another day...

Trotters are a great hit with my crew. The especially love walking around with the wagging third tails to show them off !

No upset tummies.

Nando gets these and he used to have an extremely sensitive tummy. I slit the skin at first just to tempt him and he would sit and eat a whole trotter, keeps him quiet for an hour or so!

My Myka can eat a whole Pigs trotter in less than 10 minutes.  quite scary watching her.  I do find it can make some of mine a bit loose.

Don't give them often as my butcher charges quite a lot for them, it's Dean who kept getting them to treat the dogs until I found out how much he was paying.

I certainly would prefer to give them something else.

The nicest thing they had recently was Calves necks, a whole one each really meaty, as big as my upperarm..

Pigs trotters quite often on the menu here for the GR crew with not a gippy tum between them
