Can anyone recommend a water bowl which really is non-spill? I have 2 youngsters here at the moment who thinks it's great fun to dig in the water bowl. The pen is constantly wet....they currently have a road refresher non-spill (ha-ha) bowl which is definitely NOT non-spill.

I was going to say the Road refresher, but it has to be the large one, as my Peni by 5 months had learnt to pick up and turn upside down (and chew the grippy bits off) the small ones.
If the issue is the youngsters grabbing mouthfuls and depositing them on the floor nothing will stop that, LOL

It is a large one, and once it's nearly empty they just pick it up, up-end it etc. When it's full they dig in it. One even likes to stand on the rim - very clever!
I could cope with the mouthfuls of water, if only it was just that!

I have the exact same problem -and with 5 water bowls down, it quickly becomes like a lake in here when my pup has emptied them all by digging. Would love to hear of a solution as well.

Water bottles. For big dog they's have to be sturdy.
Do they do farming waterers like that for say calves, piglets????

Why not teach them to use a water bottle, I have been using them for years because I would come in from work to an upturned water bowl and not know if it had just happened or they had been without water all night.
I now use ones you attach a plastic bottle too as the larger versions of the rabbit type leaked, I buy several at a time off Ebay or Amazon and attach a 2 litre coke bottle and change the water daily, it stays fresh and free from debris and the adults teach the pups what to do from around 4-5 weeks old though they still have water available in a dish will use the bottle once mastered.
I have taught 3 adults to use this technique, one took longer but did get the hang of it within a week.

I have the same problem. I now used raised bowls (for water only) and find that's stopped the digging!
The only thing that works in this house are the metal pails from Hub, hung at about chest height (so if low level, can still drink). Yes they are sometimes rattled but paddling/digging/swirling water out has stopped :)

The road refresher works here but if i dare to move them to another part of the kitchen they get upended and chewed?

I used to have a water digger as well. Then she perfected her art and used to try to jump into the water bowl.In the end, whilst she was still a small(8kg) pup I resolved the problem by standing a wooden chair over the water bowl. She could still get a drink but not flood the kitchen. When she grew (23 kg adult)she outgrew the phase and we moved the chair.

I have one that snorkels :-D - the road refresher stopped that.

I'm cruel! I only have a small water dish in the house which I will fill and stand while all the girls have a drink. I will sometimes call them in for a drink just cos they haven't bothered for a while.
Their main water bucket is outside. They have 3 around the garden which are always emptied and re-filled in the mornings. These, they can dig in, slabber over, chew and whatever else takes their fancy to their hearts content but in the house, I expect them to be clean(and dry)!!
My silly spaniel will stand with her front paws in the bucket while getting a drink, soaking up all the water into her paws/legs! This is why we have a tiny bowl in the house. Wouldn't like to catch her swimming in the kitchen!! :)
I've had to resort to bowls on a stand and I had to put it as high as I could and she could still reach it. She can't ti it up but she does like to watch the water dripping off her mouth onto the floor lol but I tried everything, non spill, pot bowls and just putting a bit of water in but the bowl in a stand is the best one up to now and we got it when she was about 5 months old
My shih tzu has always loved to rub his head in his water, or up end the bowl. I tried a 'non spill' one years ago but it was useless. He's now on a metal dish as he's not keen on drinking from a plastic bowl. I never realised there were so many other dogs getting the 'Thrill Of The Spill'.

You can get water bowls that attach to a crate which I use in the car. Or you could try putting the normal water bowl inside a larger bowl - maybe a washing up bowl weighted down with a brick so that any splashing is contained by the larger outer bowl and the brick will stop them from picking up the washing up bowl.
Having written the word bowl a few times it seems a funny way to spell it - I know it's the correct spelling it just looks odd :-)

I've come across a bracket for attaching the road refresher to a crate and have ordered it. I'll report back once it arrives and will let you all know if it's a success or not.
I found a "coop cup"works well on a crate side, there is a metal loop that holds the dish safely off the floor.

Now I find those are guaranteed to be pushed out and emptied.
I bought a rather expensive clamp on plastic bowl in the USA where the bowl screws onto the clamp so can't be dislodged, so that Inka could have more water than the little plastic bird clip on airline crate things.
Thsi has done sterling work in the puppy pen..

Reporting back on the bracket for the road refresher. IMO totally useless. Pup can still dig in the bowl and it doesn't fit securely, it bounces as she digs. Any higher up she can't reach in to it.
Next thing will be to try the water bottles!

We've had the exact same problem in this house with youngsters digging!
It was solved completely by using a metal bowl in a stand. I raised it so pup can still just drink. the rattle puts them off somewhat.
I now have a large heavy china bowl which hasn't been tipped up yet (although my youngest will be 3 in August so perhaps she's got over it lol!).

I have got water in a raised metal bowl for the adults which the pups can just about reach, and is fine as long as they're not too excited. Once they become over-excited she starts launching at it. I'm just hoping it's a phase and she'll grow out of it. On the whole he isn't too bad atm.

LOL, reminds me of when my old GSD girl was a pup :) I had to resort to a metal bucket in a 'goat ring' attached to the wall outside. (She could get in and out of the house into a safe area at will). She eventually grew out of it, although at 10 and a half, she still likes to drop her ball in the water bowl and dunk it around with her paw LOL. An echo of her puppyhood. Oh, and she still loves her paddling pool even now (that is whenever we actually do get any warm weather!).
