Ok how does this sound or do I need to add to my knowledge ?. recently met a pomeranian x german spitz approx the size of a spitz klein. Unfortunately or so I thought they kept him clipped very short except round the head like a mane
Apparently the reason it is back and tan in colour is because the origins of these breeds come from a gsd and therefore have the same colour.
I was somewhat speechless at this claim anyone any thoughts because this is a newone on me ?

I'm pretty certain the Pomeranian has been around a lot longer than the GSD.

I believe there are pure breed Black and Tan Pomeranians which are able to be shown here, there is a kennel who were showing one a couple of years ago who did well. I'd say the Black and Tan colour has come through via the Pom genes. Although I hold an interest in this breed, I'm no expert!
