Can anyone who has one tell me what they are made of, I have been quoted some really high prices for them both sides of the pond and I am wondering what makes them so expensive?

alot of them are made of synthetic chamois type material that holds water.

Thanks

So nothing really expensive then, maybe I could make one.

The ones we sell are a chamois type material but although they are wet, they hold the moisture thus not wetting he coat at all, they are pricey though!

I have been looking at buying the chamois material but no one seems to do it by the yard/metre, it is in pieces used as towels which are not very big.

Yes I had read that the coat doesn't get wet which allows folk to use them at shows and they stay wet for about 4hrs, does that mean the outer cover is waterproof and doesn't allow the heat to penetrate to dry it out? I have some heat reflective fabric here that I made a cover for my show trolley from which is also waterproof.

No it soaks through but retains the moisture.  Mine stays cold for a long time too, even in those hot days that I seem to remember having one summer!

Thanks for the info, will send for the largest pieces of chamois I can find and take it from there, being dachsies they are not a huge breed.
