Hi can anybody help bought my 2 year old frenchie with kennel club reg and pedigree
No imports on it just taken her to my vet to find she is microchipped in the Netherlands
Does this mean the paperwork I've got isn't hers please help I'm confused

It's technically possible (though a bit strange) that she was taken over to the Netherlands as a puppy, then microchipped, rabies vacc ect for passport to come home. It's also possible that her breeder was living in the Netherlands with her mum when she was born, she would have to be microchipped there to come home. I'd contact the breeder on her registration form for clarification.

I think dogs have to be born in the UK to be KC reg, so it does seem odd. Definitely talk to the breeder, just to make sure it's all above board. There are illegally imported dogs coming in, heard today of a beagle puppy that is now in quarantine.

A pup must be born in the UK to be registered with the UK KC.

Yes they do, but nobody checks that they are. What if the breeder had two houses, or was on a long holiday and the pups were born overseas but registered here? Just because it says in the KC regs that something has to happen doesn't mean it always does.

Actually thinking about it, there could be a much simpler answer. The pup could have been sold to someone in the Netherlands, or went on holiday there and then just had her passport done there to return here, nobody checks them on the way into NL, just on the way back to UK.

Probably needs a thread of its own but just noticed dispatches on C4 next Monday is about illegal puppy trafficking from abroad.

Well that is also a possibility, and certainly a pedigree can be written nonsense, but I wonder where they'd get a kc registration certificate? Only way to know for sure is for the OP to speak to the breeder.

Meme67, do you have a KC registration certificate, or just a pedigree?

have you had her since she was a puppy or have you just bought her? if you have just bought her contact the previous owner to find out if the dog lived abroad for any time.

If you have had her since a puppy it would suggest something fishy.

This is a 2 year old dog.
Dog can be registered with UK KC as an adult import but then the paperwork should have IMP in it, I think.

I imported a bitch puppy (from Netherlands) and she was registered in Netherlands and given an export pedigree. I could then register her with UK KC but she has (Imp Nld) at the end of her name.

Where did she come from and have you got the actual KC registration?
