Does any one have any good dog walk locations  for north coast Norfolk. I have some friends who are looking to take the dogs on holiday.

Holkham Beach has to be the best :) If they go inland a bit, Holt country Park is good. Sheringham Park - National Trust so dogs have to be on lead, I think

When are they thinking of going?  Norfolk is a world renowned area for breeding birds so there are a number of places where dogs are excluded or restricted to leads.  Once they've found an area they like it's worth double checking with organisations such as Norfolk Wildlife Trust and the RSPB - both of whom have websites - which areas to avoid, and at what times of year.

That said it's well worth checking the websites for information as you can often see the birds move between reserves and Norfolk often has rare bird sightings too.  My brother was there last week and told me that a white tailed eagle (Sea Eagle) has been spotted in the last few weeks nr Snettisham.  That would be an amazing sight...

There are lots of areas in Norfolk where birds aren't a problem :) :) :) :)

Forgot to mention that you can walk dogs on the Sandringham Estate (as long as it isn't during the season for Seasonal Canine Illness :)

What nicely presented information. I used to walk my dogs on Holkham Beach some 15 yrs ago. When living in Essex we used to caravan up there. The beach does have areas where they tape it off around the ground nesting Little Terns, but this beach is huge and there is room for all to enjoy it. I used to just put mine back on leads on the approach to sensitive areas. It is a wonderful place for dogs. When you arrive on the beach- don't turn left, it is a nudist area- we did the first time we visited and kids were amazed!! Maybe it isn't now as it is a long time since my last trip.

Many thanks to all the replies. The comments have been very helpful. They are looking to go on the first week of April.

I should have added that they now charge for parking at the beach and it is not cheap :(

What a shame! Nothing free anywhere these days! I suppose it had to happen- it used to get packed on nice days- so there are obviously maintenance cost issues.
