Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / 3 week old litter and Crufts

I have a litter of pups that will be 3 weeks old when Crufts starts.

I'm in a dilemma, do I go to Crufts or not?

I have a puppy sitter so all ok there, but with so many dogs in one place is it a wise move, could we carry any illness back home with us?

I'm not taking any dogs with me but I have a lot of shopping to do.

I did a couple of years ago. We had a change of clothes (and shoes) ready to change into before we went in the house. And thoroughly washed hands before going near our puppies.

Yes, I thought we could maybe go and change clothes etc before we went in to the pups.

I'm torn, I want to go but also keep pups as safe as possible.

I do the same as Claire, have clothes ready upstairs and different shoes go and have a wash etc. and then get changed.

I personally would feel happy with change of clothes/having shower/wash shoes etc.

I have done the same as other posters. Change and wash before going into the pups. I also have a very safe spray that I spray over the coats of the dogs that have been with me. (Safe4pets)

I will NEVER go to a show with pups due or already in my home! Did that a couple of years ago and brought back Kennel Cough!! By separating the adults from the pups we managed to slow down the infection spreading to the pups BUT I will never again attend a show whilst having a litter. JMHO - not worth the danger to the poor little babies (they did get KC and were thankfully OK in the end!)...
Something I have put down to experience...

I'm sure you have put a lot of time and effort into your litter. Why take a chance of bringing back a life-threatening disease for those puppies. Keep the pennies and go next year. It will still be there!

I personally wouldn't risk it.
