Please help!!  I had a dumped dog give birth to 7 puppies.  She's a chihuahua terrier mix to our best guess.  Puppies will be 3 weeks old this Tuesday.  One of the puppies was not thriving on momma so last Tuesday we took him to bet and began bottle feeding him.  We actually use a syring cause the puppy bottles have been very user unfriendly my vet actually said to throw it away.  So he pooped at least once a day every day until Saturday.  He has good days and bad days.  I feed 2 hours around the clock and some feedings he looks really good and strong but today he looks  bad.  I took him back to vet yesterday for eye infections and started him on eye antibiotics.  The vet used the thermometer when taking temp to remove some fecal matter yesterday morning.  He had been pooping on his own but as of now I have been unable to get him to poop.  He's very lethargic today and kind of flops around while I hold him.  He does urninate after every feeding.  I feed 3-4 mls. every 2 hours.  This morning at his 9 am feeding he had some milk come out his nose.  I stopped his feeding and cleaned him up.  I fed again at 11 he got through 1ml with no milk coming from his nose but during second ml milk again came from nose.  for his 1o'clock feeding my husband cut a hole in bottle and he suckled it briefly with a strong suckle, no milk came from his nose.  After he stopped suckling from bottle I again tried to give a little more with syringe, milk came from nose.  I tried adding a little sugar to formula thinking maybe his sugar was low aroun 330 and again the first syring he took with no problems but once he started his second syring milk came from nose.  Each syringe is 1ml.  I am beside myself and not sure what to do.  My vet is closed today and I am very worried both about milk from nose and him not pooping.  Any advice would be great!!!  I read somewhere giving him some flavored mineral oil might make him poop.  Anybody ever tried this.

He only weighs about .3ounces.  My vet said to feed about 3-4mls per feeding.  I was able to get him to poo until saturday.  He's obviously bloated and I've tried rubbing him with cotton balls paper towels and wash cloth thinking different textures might work better.  I'm following the directions for mixing the formula.  1 part powder to 2 parts water.  He pees everytime and sometimes even without being stimulated, he actually peed on me earlier today.  His body temperature is down quite low tonight, I just checked it.  Will that make a difference for him going poo?  I keep a heating pad on him and a hot water bottle of sorts.  It's actually an iv bag the vet gave us that we microwave every few hours to warm it up.  He was given subcu fluids both on Tuesday and again yesterday for dehydration and his skin looks as though he is dehydrated again tonight, so I thought maybe I was keeping him too warm.  His litter mates are just so much bigger then him, like its insane the size difference.  My 19 year old says the other puppies look like rats and he's the size of a hamster.  The other puppies are at least three times his size, if not bigger.  And so far all very healthy putting on weight getting around good and eyes open.  Killer is still very very wobbly and has a hard time holding his head up.  His eyes were not opening on their own and I took him back to vet yesterday morning cause during an a.m. feeding his one eye had puss draining out of it.  The vet opened the eyes by gently massaging them and took a sample of the fluid from them and said that the sample had a lot of inflamation cells in it and was concerned that their might be something going on with his liver or kidneys.  Does any of his story sound like anything you've been through?  Have you ever tried flavored mineral oil to make them go potty?  My plan is to take him back to vet in morning.

It sounds like he is fading, to only be 3 ounces at 3 weeks of intensive feeding regime makes me think he has some serious health problems, he should wee and poo every feed and should have a strong suck to stop milk coming down his nose[I presume his palates are intact], it could equally go down into his lungs and cause pneumonia.

You shouldn't feed a pup who is cold as he will be lethargic and all his systems including digestion will have slowed right down causing more problems. Did the vet get him to poo? Usually a well lubricated thermometer has the desired effect provided there is no obstruction.

I am sorry to say things don't look too hopeful for this little chap and if he doesn't start thriving it may be kinder to have the vet put him to sleep.
