- By lora86 [gb] Date 09.02.13 17:29 UTC
Hi my friends dog is in season she is 2 n half n not been bred before, her blood is now changing color to a much lighter, they are not sure of the exact day but beliEve to be around day 12 now, she has taken her to the stud dog every day this week, as they live close by, she has gotten very aggressive towards the male the last couple of days she is worrying that she is not going to breed, Or normal? she will stand while he licks her and she will move her tail and stick out her vulva, but as soon as he tries to get on her she gets very aggressive, can anybody help? she started off much more playfull, but now getting aggressive???

could be shes gone over or shes not ready or shes not going to let a male mate her ....without progestrone testing shes not going to know fully when shes ready, i dont go by the blood some girls can bleed alot some not as much!!.

She has been taking her everyday since she started bleeding,  to be sure not to miss it, as this is her first time, she not sure when will b her best day, would u say still persist n carry on taking her? My mother breeds and has said wen she is ready she will just stand for him?But she seems as tho she is liking it less everyday that goes by,lol,  yet she is up for the foreplay lol, will she be there a while n then give in, or do they go straight in n stand wen it's the right time? This is all confusing for me lol, I have said I will ask on here, :-) x

she might be frightend after she is a maden ,she could be a late ovulater iv had a girl mate on day 28 so she could have a good few days yet :)

Best to get her checked no one can look at a bitch and know if she have ovulated.

Taking her to a dog every day is not a good idea you are asking for infection.

A very experienced dog and bitch might well just get on with the job, but a maiden bitch will certainly need her owner to gently control her so that she doesn't pull away through virginal nerves! I'm assuming that the stud dog is experienced and his handler has assisted at matings before?

My goodness day 28 lol, so is it correct that her attitude will totally change wen she is ready? Because they are taking her everyday she wants to no how long she she be keeping them together whilst she is there, she has been going there for 3-4 hrs a night but now she is aggressive towards him she think it's best to leave it instead of staying as long,  wen it's her day will she b aggressive to start with?

Good grief! is this an experienced stud, I think not you should not leave them together like that ever. Get her checked, and then use a stud dog with an experienced owner which probable means leaving it till next season - and why is she going at night - dogs are active during day light so it could be she is never going to be interested  at night.

I may be wrong but this seems a very ill researched affair to have to be asking questions like this at this time.

Tell your friend to ask for help from the bitches breeder and they may also suggest a suitable stud.

Not if she's a maiden and been allowed to become scared.

i wouldnt have a girl come here every night and not for that long, id be telling her to test her girl and come back when shes ready we all have lifes has the male been used before?.

They arent left alone together she goes there wen she has finished work in the Eve, n stays with them both and the dogs owner, they are experienced and have helped assist mating before, but my friend is worrying that she is now turning aggressive towards the dog and hasn't come across a bitch starting off really friendly n interested n the then changing.so dramatically,  x

Perhaps I have been very lucky as my girls have always been keen to mate, even as maidens. That is over 6 different girls. Even one that never took at all over 3 different seasons ( obviously not to be ). Usually aggression indicates the wrong timing so testing is key assuming of course that the bitch is not normally an aggressive dog by nature. Once they have been for the first mating they are keener still the 2nd visit. I personally have always supervised matings and just held my bitch to comfort her and control her. An experienced stud dog or stud dog owners is a must for me too as just once I went to someone who believed in free running for mating and it was a joke frankly so not for me.

If the bitch is this agressive, my advice would be dont have the litter & go and buy a puppy!

Bitches do get scared at the last minute so need to be reassured at the head end so she can't turn on the male, mine aren't too chuffed initially but once tied lie there washing the males face and being all loving. Don't know if smaller breeds are harder to mate due to smaller anatomy than larger ones hence the reluctance.

Day 12 could still be early for some bitches, I do 12 & 14 generally and travel 200 miles to the stud and stay a couple of nights but the dogs only get together twice 48hrs apart and had pups each time with one bitch, other one I discovered ovulated on Day 6 so we kept missing the boat.

If she takes her daily then only stay for an hour and let the male into the room for short bursts at a time,he will be more eager and she may be more willing if he keeps leaving.

No wonder she is getting tetchy!  If I was pestered for sex every single night I would be peed too.

You simply don't take a bitch to the stud dog every day since she started a season.  And the stud dog owner is definitely NOT experienced, or she wouldn't be encouraging the bitch owner.

The colour of the discharge is totally irrelevant.  I think the bitch owner should do some research and studying, and forget this season.

LIKE,LIKE,LIKE, JeanSW!!

Please stop treating these 2 dogs like this.  It's unfair and cruel.  The bitch is going to end up unwell and maybe not able to carry a litter.  And the male will be getting more frustrated by the second!
If they won't test, I would forget it if I owned the stud.

Nothing that you've posted here leads me to think that either dog or bitch owners have the knowledge or experience necessary to be producing a litter of puppies.  It just sounds like using the nearest dog available to produce a litter of puppies from pets.
Please encourage your friend to stop her efforts until she has learned more.

Whether the bitch is ready or not, it does not sound as if her OWNERS are ready to breed :(
