Had a leaflet through the door this morning and wondering if anyone has used them or done this type of screening? Husband is thinking about it.
Four screenings £149. Artery screening, heart rhythm, aortic aneurysm & artrial disease.
Are they thorough enough?

I had always been a bit sceptical about these until recently. Our elderly neighbour had been having dizzy spells on and off for a year. She had been seen several times by her GP, but was getting worse. Her husband suggested that they she had these tests done (or similar - not sure which company). They found that an artery in her neck (supplying the brain) was almost completely blocked ! When she then went to visit her GP with the results, he put her on some medication and since then she has been much better :) I am surprised as her son is a GP and even he hadn't suggested that she needed these tests (although I know there is some sort of rule about GPs not treating their own relatives).

I have had some from them and just throw them in the bin. If I was going that route I would choose someone like Bupa not one that pops through my door.
Daisy my mum has been under the doctor for similar symptoms but she was reffered to elderly care who have done multiple test including what you neighbour had sone as they were checking for similar problems> we havnt yet got to the bottom of mums problems but she is now under two consultants. I would say gp was being less than sensible by not referring her cant see why her son hasnt pushed more. When going to doc mum always takes me now and I have learned from other situations polite but pushy is unfortunately the way. i am pleased they have sorted her.

Think my husband worrying as his father died aged 40 from a heart attack no warning signs and his mother has on going heart problems and just had a short spell in hospital to sort things for her.
As its not loads and loads of money he may decided to have them done.

If you husband has a history of heart problems, he should go to his GP and request testing.  My cousin did exactly this after her father also died young from a major heart attack.  They soon found a heart problem that has been running through her family for generations.  If her father had went for screening, he might still be here today!
I would go to my GP first.
