Hi is anyone feeding this? Would love some opinions, good or bad, as I am thinking of changing my two dogs onto it. At the moment my lab, almost 9, is on skinners duck and rice and my border collie pup, 5 months, is on royal canin junior. Thanks :)

Have a look online at www.whichdogfood.co.uk/dog-food-directory. It give an unbiased review of all dog foods and scores them for easy checking too. I love the site and made me jump to raw!
I fed RC junior to all my pups for years and it shocked me to learn it is one of the worse foods!!
TOTW and Orijen are one of the highest scored complete foods and I almost bought some but decided I would be cheaper going raw feeding. If you are going to use Orijen, you can join the breeders club to get a discount. Think it was working out just under £50 for 13kgs with the breeder discount.
Edited to add - Sorry. Didn't realise you only have 2 dogs. Breeders club out, I'm afraid.

Thank you for the link, will have a look :) Origen was another food on my list of possibilities but have spoken to people who were feeding it and they were finding it hard to get hold of and had swapped to other foods. My lab has epilepsy and has struggled to cope with the medication, the side effects were so bad he is now off the tablets with the vets agreement. I was advised to read up and try the Gard diet and taste of the wild is one of the few recommended foods. Raw feeding would be the best way to go but unfortunately I have no room for an extra freezer for the dogs and I'm not sure how people manage while away from home? (We compete in obedience and can be away in the caravan for 2-7 nights)
My dog ate this for a while and it was great stuff but then the price rocketed and it was frequently out of stock (i have nowhere to keep more than 2 sacks) so I ended up changing for these reasons not the suitability of the food.

I keep a small freezer in the shed for the dogs stuff and the rest that doesn't fit, goes in our freezer in the house(Don't tell my OH). Also, we camp all summer long with a tent and a couple of cool boxes. Last summer, I was keeping tripe packs in a stream beside the tent when the freezer packs defrosted too much(bout 4 days in). Remember, dogs can eat food that we couldn't contemplate so a few stinky days won't bother them. I've only went back to raw diet(no dry food added) for a couple of weeks and allready I've noticed a big difference, healthwise, in my lot. There's a lot to be said for it. My springer gets raw, itchy eyes after being out working. That's been OK. My old cocker was getting stiff and smelly and took meds for incontinence. That's all stopped. My littlest cocker has AI disease but I haven't noticed much difference in that but I'm hopeful. That is the reason for the change. :)
Although, with everything in life, each to their own!
Best wishes to your lab.

I feed all 5 of mine Taste of the Wild and they all love it and do very well on it. They have been on it for about 18 months now. We tried Origen when I couldn't get hold of TOTW but my dogs all had very smelly wind when eating it so we only had the one bag. I don't think I'd feed my dogs anything else now I've tried this (we have tried CSJ, Pro Plan, Royal Canin to name a few!) If you buy 2 bags at a time from zooplus it works out cheaper than buying single bags and you get a 5% discount on orders over £75

Another alternative is Eden, which is comparable in make-up to Orijen (80:20) but has different ingredients:

Having fed Eden since it's launch in September 2012 I can say I'm very happy I switched. It has a 5 star review on the site mentioned above and my dogs are very happy on it. Their coats are great and poos are small. What I like is that it does not contain any questionable fillers bulking out the food, it's just good nourishment. I had considered TOTW but it's not easy to find. Eden has to be ordered too but it is manufactured in the UK and I'm finding the delivery of Eden so easy and reliable (and free if you order 2 large bags), so I'm sticking with it. I believe the company do sample bags if you contact them.

Please could you give us a link to the online site that we can order from?
Jean

I have fed TOW- it is a great food and would recommend if you do feed it alternate through the variety to give
your dog different meat protein.

Thank you all :) Eden was another that I had been reading about but hadn't found anyone who had tried it. I'm lucky as one of the stockists of Eden is very close to us and allows collection from their training ground :) I have heard from quite a few people that TOTW is hard to get hold of so am going to order a trial bag of Eden and try that first. I have ordered a couple of raw feeding books so I might introduce raw once I have read up about it. A freezer in the shed is a good idea :) (thanks cracar)
