Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Worrying for nothing??

Hi all, my girl had a small litter 3 months ago and all went well.

This past few days she has become swollen, I thought she was just fat so have upped her exercise and decreased her food slightly but today her tummy is rock solid.

Took her to the vet and temp, blood tests etc are all fine and the vet was totally unconcerned but after putting a white sheet on her bed I noticed a bloody discharge.

She came into season way early and this would be the time she would be due.... Is it possible that this is her season? The vet sort of dismissed the idea of it being a season? Her vulva is a little swollen and the blood is the rite colour.

Am maybe worrying for nothing but am well aware that some of you are more knowledgable about these things than some vets and want to go prepared if I take her back tomorrow!

Well this would only be slightly early for her to be in season, so a season is most likely.  How many weeks is it since the start of her previous season (having puppies will make no difference to timing for some bitches, or only delay it a few weeks).

If she isn't drinking more, showing signs of being unwell, and the discharge is normal blood and not smelly then I'd say she is in season.

I agree - early yes, but hardly impossible.  Could easily be a normal season.

yes it is possible it is her season.. and it's not that uncommon.. I have had a girl come into season when pups were just 11 weeks old..and another when her pups were 17weeks old..

This should not cause the tummy symptoms though..
