Have had some great advice on the forum, so thought I would ask here. This is a worst case scenario that only time will tell, but if your keeper had a congential abnormality that would possible mean pts, would your run on another pup from the litter?
not very helpful I know but it depends. depends on the breed, on what the abnormality is, how many dogs I already had, how certain I was that I could give both dogs the training and socialisation they needed.

It's a working gundog. It's not unusual to bring on 2 pups from the litter in working circles, the biggest dilemma is whether or not I have time to train two.
Oh, and a possible ectopic ureter. I'm hoping it's just a UTI but can't help thinking worst case scenario :( - it's been a long awaited litter from my open winning bitch.
It truly is only an answer you can give. :-)
What is your breeding programme? Is this a one off litter? Are you breeding to try for a show/working potential? What does your vet think is the cause of the abnormality, genetic, environmental, or just a fluke? Along with the questions newyork has already voiced.
Whenever we breed part of the criteria should always be for a returned pup to perhaps happen, so looking at it in that way if the 'genetic' reasoning is minimal and not affecting the other pups, if the pup you are keeping is at risk of an early death and you are not having another litter........... and you have the time and energy to cope, (be warned - two pups are very hard work and especially if you need to care for the pup with the abnormality)
If you are absolutely sure that you can cope, (some of us will, some won't) then I would run another on as you would probably always wish that you had.
But, if another litter is planned in the future, I would put all my efforts into the little one you have and then think about it,
As I say it depends on so many questions of what set up you have and what your future plans are.
Sorry for the little one.......... I hope that it will not be worst case for the poor pup.
