Hi Guys,
after some advice really. Our Zanussi washing machine isn't washing at the minute have a service guy out this morning to look at it. It is only over a year old but does get heavy use with me washing vet bed in it at laast twice a day. Our garden is like a swamp at the minute mud everywhere even with parts sectioned off so it gets everywhere includng there beds which I like to change every day. Does anyone use washbags for vet bed, are they any good? I have thought about trying wipe clean beds but my breed chew everything any ideas??
My husband is going mad as this is the second in a year I have burnt out! lol

!! I'm an awful mother - my two only get their vet bed washed once a week - muddy or not - same with their towels :) :) :)

I do the same, I wash the sofa throws whenever they need it, which at the moment is every second day but there doesn't seem any point washing beds or towels every day because they get instantly dirty again. I put towels on the radiator after using them and reuse them the next day.

Mind you I don't have the same mud issue anymore as I have fake grass in the back garden which is the one the dogs have 24hr access to, so I only have mud from walks. Maybe artificial grass would be cheaper in the long run than a new washing machine every 6 months KoB :-D

I bought a couple of wash bags from olympia a few years ago and I put all animal stuff in them, it's still not great as they get on my clothes and also there is nothing I can do about my own hair but it reduces the amount going down the drain massively.  They velcro shut at the top and you just put your detergent in the bag.  I generally use a hot wash and an extra rinse.  I also occasionally throw a little sink and plug unblocker through the machine on a empty quick wash cycle.  Only a little as you get lots of bubbles!!!

That said I do not wash as often as you, probably twice a week.

I bought an xxl aluminium raised bed as a couple of mine will chew beds given a chance! I still put some vet bed on top of it as mine are short coated, but a hairy breed would probably be happy enough without and it's very easy to wipe. They haven't managed to chew it :)

My first machine was a Zanussi Fl1012.

I have had two Bosh machines since then, the first a really basic model, over 7 years went onto my brother when I bought a matching washer and dishwasher set 6 years ago.

Vetbed and rubber mats being washed constantly.

Thanks guys for the feedback, during the summer months I don't wash them as often its just with our garden being like a mud bath at the mo I have too lol

As soon as the weather improves possiblly March we are having the garden flagged couldn't cope with this mud again!!

My husband seems to think its the rubber backed vet bed this is sticking to the drum and causing friction...will defo get a washbag!

I bought a washbag at Crufts, used it once and never again as it was useless. The vetbed came out so covered in hairs it looked like it had not been washed at all. It smelt as well, plus I couldn't fit as much in.

Our previous washing machine was a Zanussi, and we were forever calling out the repairman, then one day he said when you get a new one get a Bosch instead as they are the ones I hardly ever have to repair. (Perhaps not good business sense for him to say that though LOL!) So when the Zanussi totally gave up the ghost in May we bought a Bosch. The last few days with the weather being so wet (and the dogs needing to dry off when they come in, which gets their bedding dirty) I have done as many loads as I physically can manage between getting up in the morning and going to bed at night. (And I still have so much I can't even see the laundry basket underneath everything piled on top, because every day more gets added!) Normally I do perhaps 3 loads of washing a day. So far the Bosch has been brilliant. The Zanussi would get really clogged with dog hairs, and also with bits of straw as my entire male Malinois is kennelled and around his bed I have straw on the floor to keep it dry, this one copes a LOT better with issues like that.

I have considered using tea bag paper bedding for during the day but no doubt they would eat it!! I will keep a Bosch in mind for when this one packs in!! A metal pin that attaches to the drum had snapped so fingers crossed it works ok for a bit lol

I give vet bedding a good shake and then use Horse Wear Bags.As long as you do not over fill the bag it has been great.Machine no longer covered in hairs after a wash.Great buy.

Me too ! The mud has really got me down. Fed up with constant cleaning  of floors and walls and washing muddy bedding. Paving is gonna cost a lot of money but set that against the electricity used cleaning/washing -it will be money well spent.

-I must admit as much as I love my lawn the constant mud and squelch bought in and then trying to rescie it from dogs who forget to use their own patch and re turf it makes me wonder of it should be paved
