How much does your vet charge for a ceserian?
Does he go by weight?
I paid £612. for a siberian Husky to have a ceserian, at the time he could have said £1000 i would of paid it. But after speaking to other breeders it seems they only pay around £300. It would be very interesting to hear some of your views.

One of my bitches has had a ceaser. it was 3 yrs ago though and I paid £150, and it was a holiday weekend, and a 2 0'clock in the morning call out. so I thought that was excellent, don't know what its up to now, but dont suppose it will be much dearer.

I was told $ 300 during hours and after hours $150 for exam and $700 to $800 for c-section, plus $10 charge for after hours phone call.

Hi DOLLFACE
That was a good price i think it depends on the area you live in.

an updated price-as my bitch had a ceasar 3 weeks ago, it was £320 . that was the op, antibiotics , check up and stitch removal!-and for 7 live pups, it was about £50 less for less than 4 pups i think,

Back in February I paid £300 for a c-section. That was on a Sunday so included a call out fee and antibiotics etc, for 4 puppies.
I was dreading the bill but was very happy to pay £300.

I live in Devon and have a labradors.

Have recently changed from a vet I used for 8 yrs, who are well known for being the most expensive vets in the South West, they would of charged £500-£600. I changed cause one of the labs was spayed by them and nearly died the following day!

Hi DIZZY,
What area do you live in?
How is the scar now?
Pebbles had her ceasar 2 weeks ago and it looks like it's weeping a bit but the vet says it's ok.
What is yours like, and did they leave a dissovable stitch in after taken the stitches out.

im in northumberland, scar sounds much the same as yours ,a touch weepy, they had to leave the stitches in a fortnight instead of 10 days as it got a bit red, -shes on antibiotics at the minute, covering her until it heals 100%-dissolvable stitches where never mentioned, so i dont think she must of had them,

Thanks for that.
Didn't she antibiotics straight after the ceasar. Pebbles did.
does she seem fine in herself.

Hi, I can hardly believe the prices that the vets mentioned are charging. My vet, who is not considered cheap, would charge approx £150 for a C section and £120 for a simple spay. Even if this were doubled, to take account of larger heavier dogs, I can barely see how any vet could charge £500-600 and get away with it. Another nearby cheaper vet - still good but with fewer facilities would charge £85 for a spay and £100ish for a c section, on my size of dog (10kilos). Even with a dog weighing 4 times that, would only need an increase in anaesthetic, more stitches and a higher dosage of other drugs used /prescribed, which surely couldn't amount to more than an extra £100 or so? Or could it? I suppose delivering 10 pups by C section from a large bred bitch should cost more than a smaller bitch with 2 or 3 but even so - I'm staggered.

I paid £213 on Friday for my bitch's c-section. She needed a lot of stitching up as her womb was ripping under the strain of 9 pups (all healthy).
In the past other Vets have quoted me prices of £480 plus, my last Vet started to charge £150 and in two years suddenley went up to £500! At that point I left and found a better cheaper Vet.
I know someone who was charged £850 for delivering 1 puppy.
Prices vary from Vet to Vet so shop around and go to someone who is reccommended.

Pebbles my Siberian husky weighs 23kg and had 5 pups.
I cant believe the prices you are all saying looks like i was ripped off big time. But at the time he could of said £2000 and i would of paid it.
Thanks for everyones input.

My vet charges £260 per 25Kg. ( Don't think it is including the weight of the puppies as well !!) :D
