What sort of use by date would you expect on Dopram V when ordering it ?
- By Rhodach [gb] Date 07.12.12 13:13 UTC
They usually warn you at Hyperdrug if the date is short. I don't order it till the pregnancy is confirmed these days.

Thank you. I ordered some from petdrugs online on 25th October which came and i thought nothing of it and put it straight in the fridge. Thankfully it wasnt needed as all went well but i though id check the date so i can see if anyone else can use it, only to find its out of date end of this month. Im fuming as i wasnt made aware of short date.

I think it generally does have a short shelf life but as it is a prescription drug you cannot legally sell or give it to anyone else to use anyway.

Because they are a pharmacy and are qualified to dispense it.

has it changed recently as I have bought it before without a prescription?
- By Stooge Date 07.12.12 20:06 UTC
No, it has always been the same.  You do not need a prescription from your vet, the pharmacist is the one responsible for dispensing this type of legal catagory and should be obtaining information about your animal to do so.  Very often this information is given when you first register on one of these on line pharmacies.

>However sufficient information about the animal and the way it is kept must be known to the prescriber in order to prescribe and supply appropriately.

This is what the law requires.

Me too.  Always have, but when I first started ordering my Panacur from them I was asked how many dogs I had.  I'm pretty sure that I had to confirm that I was competent to dose etc.

Before getting my first order of Dopram V 4 yrs ago I had a phone conversation with the pharmacist from Hyperdrug, since then I have filled in the questionaire each time and it has been sent to me, the only contact has been an email if the shelf life was short.

I could only find the Injection version on their site not the sublingual drops that breeders use?

Dopram V always has a short shelf life, I always get one just in case and keep it in the fridge until d day. I usually end up throwing it away unopened but its so worth it!

As the information I have posted states the prescriber is not a vet but a pharmacist.  There will be a qualified pharmacist, by law, present and responsible for confirming that you are an appropriate and capable person to adminster that drug to the correct animal when hyperdrug dispatch your order.
