Do any of you that feed raw use road kill ? If so what? If not why not.
Just a random thought ,one of the funny things that go around my brain !!!

Not only do the dogs get some, I eat some of it myself! I do need to know exactly how fresh it is though.

Mostly Rabbit, Pheasant and Wood Pigeon make a nice treat when we can find it, fresh and clean.  I always make sure the worming is up to date.

What sort Jeangenie, birds ,rabbits ,badgers, foxes etc .There is such a variety ,What can you feed?  ,For yourself  I would think birds ,rabbits Deer ,But what else could you feed dogs. Do you feed whole fur/skin /feathers or do you sort it ?

Exactly right. I don't eat carnivores (foxes, badgers etc) and I don't feed them to the dogs either. Whether it's true or not I feel there's too much risk of passing on diseases.

Yes generally whole unless we are having some too.

Definitely NOT badger.  It can pass TB on to dogs.  cats too actually.

It's also illegal to possess a dead badger or any part of one (such as a skin) unless it's antique.

I was wondering the very same thing the other day as I narrowly avoided a Roe deer that was lying dead on the road, from the looks of it, it was pretty fresh, but I did wonder about the meat being contaminated by stomach/bowel contents.

From what I remember, Deer goes 'off' incredibly quickly unless it is gutted etc.  I wouldn't risk it unless you know when exactly it was killed.....which is a pity....LOVE venison.  Nom Nom.

That's what I was thinking Penfold, glad I resisted.

Venison can be hung so if the paunch is intact should not be a problem.  You'd need to open it up to see.
