Topic Dog Boards / Health / 14yr old westie has wet his bed!
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 20.11.12 07:52 UTC
Let the dogs in the kitchen this morning and my westie was just laying asleep on his bed, he woke up and got up to come through into kitchen but his bed bed was absolutely soaking with wee. He didn't seem to notice or be bothered that's he's layed  in it (not sure for how long either). He's never done this before but does go to sleep very heavily, poor chap his tummy and legs were dripping.
He's walking around ok but his back legs are weaker and he easily slips over if he's running on a slide floor and doesn't have a lot of power to jump on low chairs, but this has been for a while.

I have dried him off and he just gone out the dog flap to have a wee which seemed his normal amount. There's no strong infection smell and I have checked the other dogs incase they did it and he's just layed in it but they are all dry and unlikely to actually wee on bedding.

Worried and going to ring vet, hope its just a deep sleep one off :-(

It is possible that he had a vestibular event. My Scarlet had one of these and became disorientated for just a short time and wee'd in the house , the one and only time she ever did. Hopefully it will be a one off.

Possibly I suppose, he seems fine today and no more wetting while asleep. Going to make sure he goes out for a wee before bed in minute and hopefully it was a one off. I guess he could have been so sound asleep when it happened and didn't notice the feeling of being very wet.
