Have just been playing a game on facebook when someone on chat asked if their GSD that they had just sold (2 years old) would still know them in the future.
I asked if they had sold her to some one they knew? or if they had given her to a rescue ?
No was the answer, someone on the internet .
If I could put my hands through the computer I would have strangled them.
They have no telephone number or address for these people .She has not been done so is capable of being bred from .Or God forbid used for fighting.

And they wonder why people get beat up!  Like you I could happily slap these folk round the head.

I feel sad that the dog hasn't got a lifetime home.

I do hope that the people that have her will treat her well,But dread to think what may happen to her,my mind is going round in circles.

I got my little sheltie from a ftgh ad on preloved, she came twice the ideal weight for the breed, two carrier bags of dead fur matted into her coat and a mouth full of rotten teeth. She had a good grooming, a dental and a diet and 3 years on she's the jolliest little thing, she's in love with my OH who totally dotes on her :)
Here's hoping the GSD ends up somewhere nice. I can't begin to understand how someone could hand a dog over no questions asked like my shelties old owner did, I'm glad we got her though.

Breaks my heart to see some of the adverts on the internet. Saw one the other day for a Rottie bitch, reason for re-homing..... Going on holiday next week

>:-/  Out of all the excuses I have ever read this one really took the biscuit, I hate to think where this poor girl ended up.

I really dont think people think things through,The people that had this bitch (gsd) had tried to mate her on two seasons ,thankfully she never took, now they have sold her on as she is working strain and more work than they antisipated.
So who would take her on ,only someone that wants to make money out of her.I wish that I had known that the wanted rid I may have been able to try to rehome her ,but to sell on the internet just for money beggers belife.

Happens all the time every day On Gumtree and similar sites. Pets sold under age, already pregnant, suitable for breeding, banned breeds, a large portion off them free, usually with the wording, " need to get rid of it asap ". All these categories are supposedly against Gumtree's policy, but they still appear, reporting them just means they get re-advertised a few minutes later , it's a joke and makes me sick to my stomach.

I could not do such a thing ,My dogs are my dogs for life,If they have problems then I will sort it not sell part of my family,It would feel like I was abandoning a child,They give unconditional love the very least we can do  is to return it.
Do the people that run these sites not have a thought of the misery that these animals go through.

Although these sites bring it home to you that for some people, pets are a disposable commodity, have you wondered what might happen to the dogs if they could not be advertised. For example they might put the dog in a car and drive it out of the town and abandon it. Alternatively tie it up to a tree somewhere or the better option tie it up to the gate of a rescue place at night. In some places an owner would just shoot an unwanted dog and dispose of the body.

Sometimes the dogs are better off being rehomed....if they can't be bothered with it or care so little, at least there's a chance of a good home.

I'm not naive enough to think that's the case every time but at least there's a chance.

Yes I do agree with what you have said,I just feel that if push comes to shove rehome via a rescue, not try to make money out of loyal animal that has given you their trust,And to let a animal go to someone via the internet who you do not know from Adam,or were they live for money is surely not right.
Abandoned dogs will end up in a rescue at some time ,they will be evaluated, medicated, groomed, and then if not rehomeable given sleep. The person that sold this GSD had on two seperate seasons put her to stud,as luck would have it she never took, now only 2 years old sold on as she is a working strain dog with a owner that did not want to now be bothered with  her.
I do hope that the people that now have her give her the forever home that she needs ,but knowing deep down that she could be in a worse place than before.
I think that I feel so sad  because my daughter has a 3 year old that in pic's looks just like her.& the thought that could have been Bella upsets me so much.
Fingers crossed that she is in a better home & is soooooo loved
