Whilst checking google to see how our website is doing in the listings i came across a website for a breeder that is clearly a puppy farm, they have a very snazzy website and you can even pay for your new puppy with a credit card or even by paypal. From what i can work out they breed 12! different breeds and another 12! cross breed breeds and offer no less than 14 dogs of different breeds for stud. This makes me so angry that they can be so blatent and that they are council approved and do it all under the nose of the kennel club when the new rule are making it quite differcult for some of the really good small breeders.

Sadly puppy farming is perfectly legitimate and legal, as long as they are licensed (and I assume pay the tax man) then the powers that be are happy with them running a business of breeding dogs for sale.

Well i guess they pay tax they also have 10 full time staff, they are very proud of their farming experience and talk about as if they were farming sheep. The worst thing is they must be breeding hundreds of puppies a year and people are still buying them.

To keep two people in a reasonable income I read somewhere (might have been the lobby group for Irish commercial breeders), you would need to sell 100 puppies, so to do that and pay 10 staff, do the math.

It's awful isn't it. :( Just out of interest, what new rule are you referring to?
