Ok so we rehomed Bales on the fact that we were for he had been diagnosed with HD and grade 1 luxating patella.

So I talked to the insurers who said they would transfer the insurance policy. I said I wanted exclusions to the policy for the conditions they had and revise the monthly premium about £38 ish pounds.

They refused so I said I would ponder and see if I wanted to carry on but forgot to call didn't get back to them in time so they would allow us the carry on with the policy and would have to get a new policy with exclusions . Sort of what I wanted to do anyway but decided to ask for what they had on the system as existing conditions.

So no mention of diagnosed HD or luxating patella but Elbow displasia.

So I will follow up on the mis information I was given about his conditions when I took him on but to diagnose ED why would it have cost over £2.5 k to do it :-O

I know you can have elbows scored to get a proper diagnosis of the severity but an X-ray is about as much  as I would expect to make a diagnosis ?

Quite happy now as can insure him without the exclusions I thought but still doesn't answer why I was lied to and why the diagnosis cost so much.

Here is a photo of the insurance details

Not making any accusations here, but the last time I had the dog to the vets, planned op to remove 2 lumps, the price was altered once it was established that there was no insurance...   At no time did I complain about the price as I had the money to pay in full, but it was almost half off the price ???    Not that I'm complaining, but it did make me think  ;)

As for being lied to, did the owner really understand what they'd been told by the vet?
