Has anyone any experience of these sprays - do they work?  I've been given a pair of brand new shoes that are a bit too tight for comfort and I'd like to see if I can ease them a bit.  I have plenty of leather shoes that have softened and got bigger with age but I just need to be able to start these ones off.

If the sprays aren't any good do you have any other suggestions?  How about the wooden stretchers?  Thanks

Yes these sprays do work if the shoes are leather.   Make sure you stuff a lot of newspaper etc., into them to stretch them as much as you can and warm the shoes first.  As for other suggestions my mother always got her sister to wear them in as she had smaller feet.  Failing that let the local shoe repairer stretch them for you at a reasonable price.

I hope they do a better job than my then boss did in 1962

I was in between 'horsey jobs' and worked in the local shoe shop. The first time I had a customer with their shoes pinching, he said"Not a problem Madam, I'll just put them on our electric shoe stretcher-  (to me) come along Miss...... and I'll show you how it works"
We went into the back of the shop  and he proceeded to 'stretch' alternately the toes and heels on a broomhandle!!  After a short time we took the shoes back to the customer, who pronounced them fitting perfectly! This happened many times whilst I worked for him!

In those days you had to learn all the shoe types and style codes, I used to fall asleep at night reciting them. Being the junior I was only allowed to go 'Forward Miss.....' if the senior staff were serving. The hierachy was even worse when I did a few months at Bourne & Hollingsworth in Oxford Street.

Yes I use a clarks one. spry before putting feet in and then wear them for bit the warmth of your feet together with the spray help it work. At least thats what I was told I also use it more than once

Thank you, I meant to look for some whilst I was in town this evening but forgot.  Must have been the sound of my kids groaning, grumbling, and annoying each other which put me off.  They're frankly too old for that sort of nonsense but hey ho off they went...

Next time they can pay for their own sodding shoes

Oh dear, I'm obviously still in need of a calming cup of tea!!
