Hi all

My daughter's 3 year old Golden has this morning woken up wretching, runny nose/eyes, sounds and looks very much like Kennel Cough.

As she has had contact with my 3 recently (comes for walks at least 3 times a week), I'm aware that although mine aren't showing symptoms, it may only be a matter of time before one or all of mine go down with this too.

I've called Ainsworths who are sending their Kennel Cough Homeopathic remedy by Registered post so can start giving them this tomorrow.

Apart from this, is there anything else I can do to help them either ward this virus off or if they do get it, make the symptoms more manageable?

Thanks in advance, worried doggy mum here!!!

When my girl had it my vet told me to give her honey to ease her throat.

Seem to remember I used Benylin (sp) as with any virus you can't cure it only help with the symptoms and in adult fit dogs it is more inconvenience than a health problem. If your dogs have met this particular virus before they may well have anti bodies and be unaffected but like the human cold we seem to be able to come across many different strains and therefore get many different colds.

When my dog had this my vet said it was ok to give benylin or tixylix but not the adult version, just the toddler variety

Thank you all for your replies. I have spoken to my daughter and poor Lexi is still coughing! She's at the vet at 7pm this evening, but from the video she sent me it definitely looks like KC.

She has also heard children's Benlyn is good, as is honey. She will try both these so thanks for the suggestions.

Just waiting to see if mine go down with it now...
