Hi Everyone
Have just got back from a trip to the vets with my girl Charm who is on day 50 (just the one mating) as she is losing a small amount of blood. I noticed a small spot of blood on her vet bed last night but thought it must be my other girl who is currently in season, but this morning i wiped Charm with a tissue and there is a small amount of bright red blood. I noticed a drop when she went for a wee too.She is well in herself, still eating well, normal exercise routine, being very clingy but putting that down to pregnancy. Vet scanned her, mind you i had to insist, he just said as she is eating and drinking there can't be much wrong. Scan didn't show anything untoward and the pups were active. He didn't want to put her on antibiotics as she has a normal temp.
She has scoffed her tripe and egg just now and is sleeping soundly, not in any obvious discomfort but this is not something i have had before.
Thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.
Lucy
Anyone?? Still bleeding a small amount this morning, been onto vet and they say there is nothing they can do.
There is another thread on here I found ...vet seemed to think it was stretching of the uterus ....
I am no expert and have never had this happen with my girls, but I would be wondering if it could be placenta previa, this can happen to women where the placenta which is attached to the uterine wall but too close to the cervix, and so could come before the pup this could result in an emergency c-section. I do not want to worry you but if it is bright red blood, I would be very concerned too.
It may be an idea to put this to the vet
Thank you for your replies, i took Charm to the vets yesterday and insisted on a scan, they could see nothing wrong. I have taken her today to the lady that i usually use who has a sheep scanner and she can't see anything wrong either, pups all seem ok, she is having a litter of 10.
Charm is well in herself and still behaving normally but the blood is frightening me :-(

I had one like this a couple of years ago. She had spotting at about 21 - 28 days. I phoned the vet who said like yours that there was nothing they could do and that perhaps she wasn't holding on to all of them. He suggested Synulox just in case of any infection. Everything settled down until around day 50 when she had a bit more spotting. She went on to full term and had 3 pups which is what the scan had picked up at about 30 days.
Actually my same bitch has done the same thing this time too with some early spotting. I gave Synulox as before, though don't know if it does any good. We're on day 57 now and all seems normal at the moment.
Hope all goes well for you x
