Have only got to section on " Choosing The Right Dog "
Nearly 500 breeds or types of dog are recognised worldwide, and over 200 breeds are recognised by the UK Kennel Club. In addition there are many excellent dogs, from designer crosses to Heinz 57 mutts, that are every bit as good as (and sometimes better than) their pedigree cousins, although not qualified by breeding to be on Kennel Club pedigree registers.
This is the message that they are giving to people looking to buy a dog on the Dog Advisory council website. Not sure I can be bothered reading the rest.

Thanks LJS for putting the link up I am not very good at doing links.
Could anyone put a link to their website up please as the guide to buying a dog makes quite interesting reading.
Thanks.

I can't as the website is flawed for two major reasons.
1. They are not a mobile enabled website do cant access the link you have asked me to post.
2. More importantly who in earth designed the website or the content ? It is so badly designed the trying to get any useful info is difficult.
Thanks for trying, yes I found it difficult to navigate.
So long winded, and nothing about health testing of parents being important as far as I could see.

The website has been designed with the end user totally ignored because the people involved in what they are trying to do consumed by their own self importance. (I can bet a lot of money that the requirements for the content got the website was driven by the people making the 'policies' who haven't got a clue about making a website work :-)
I say this knowing and having gone through so many projects implementing websites and systems that it is quite normal unless you know what you are doing and you put yourself in place as an end user and this is definitely a failed website .
Content has also obviously been driven by people with their own agenda !!!

Absolutely ;-)
I actually thought the 'Choosing the Right Dog' pages were pretty good. Long winded yes but then deciding on whether a dog/pup is right for you and then deciding the breed/breeder should be - CDers are always the first to jump in to posters who make quick and rash decisions about dog ownership. I didn't find it difficult to navigate ... then I'm a scientist by training, I am very familiar with flow charts (this is a modern day version of) and also let's remember who it's is aimed at: Joe Public. Asking questions requiring a 'yes' or 'no' answer and then directing to further information/advice depending upon whether a 'yes' or 'no' answer, is about as easy as it gets :-)
Admittedly the guide does have its issues, not least that those determined enough to have found the advice are probably pretty clued up anyway in order to have gone looking for it!
However, the Advisory Council are trying to make a difference in a positive way - if it stops even one person buying from a puppy farm or pet shop then it has helped. If you have constructive suggestions on how to make the site or 'journey' through the guide easier, then why not get in touch with the Advisory Council? They will listen as it in their interests to make this as user friendly as possible.
