Recently one of my bitches has shown increased levels in what I can only describe as greediness... She's actually getting more food now than she was before this started happening, but she's still acting like she's never been fed before. She gets a meal in the morning and in the late afternoon, and a litlte before bed, which has always been enough for her. Is this a warning sign of something else, or just greediness? I think it may be the latter as she only seems to do it when my husband is nearby and last night I gave her an apple which she turned her nose up at until she was sure there was nothing better on offer.
Any help on this appreciated!

I'd consider it the nature of the beast (dogs), and even my picky one ended up a scabbag when she got older.
One of our dogs would eat you out of house and home given the chance....we just don't give her the chance.
If she doesn't have much coat it might be due to the change in weather - so her metabolism has to work harder to keep her warm. If not due to that then I would keep an eye on her weight/condition and feed accordingly.

Could she be due in season? (Or is it post-season, when she might be experiencing mild false pregnancy?)
That hadn't even occurred to me; she is due into season very soon! She's always been greedy but never this... ill-mannered about it! Thanks everyone, I'll ignore her! She's a Miniature Schnauzer so is clipped every five weeks anyway, her coat is pretty wiry so she usually has a pretty good layer all round.
one of my girls , loses coat, weight and is very greedy before she comes in season,

My girls are more hungry pre season and being free fed I am having to top up the feeder more frequently at those times, they don't get fat so must be burning it off some how.
You may be getting that long awaited season very soon.
