Well have been having second thoughts about my vet's just lately and today has just confirmed it! The story so far had to have toenail removed as it came away from nailbed had to have anectietic to have it removed...then it happened again when the nail grew back another anectietic to have it removed again... then major surgery to remove part of the nail... then on hols another split nail Vet's in Devon whiped it out with a local no problem ...I asked to be referred for hydrotherapy just because of his age, they sent a referral saying that my dog has CDRM he does not! I had notes from Dick Whites where he had DNA test done saying that he did not have this condition...I am so pissed they are careless and seem to want to label my dog because of the breed. If I change vets their notes would go with him also insurance gets more complicated to fill in forms I think I have to stay see what they have to say on anything then ask breed club members for a second opinion!! grrrrrr rant over

Do change your vet, I did. My original vets practice hated Bernese and I thought he was going to loose his temper at me when I said I was going to get my second. He hated breeders unless they bred gundogs and disagreed with raw feeding, titre testing etc etc etc.. I changed and wow what a difference it made. My vet was recommended by Bernese peeps and this one vet at the practice shows and breeds himself, I'm so happy there!!

Just a thought about his recurring nail problem, have your vets suggested there might be a problem?   Google  Symmetrical Lupoid Onychodystrophy and see what you think.  I just thought I had a clumsy dog but it kept happening...

Oh my goodness! never heard of it will read with interest but I did ask the vet down in Devon why this happened and she said just coincidence  and because he had bit that had  been removed tested for allsorts they would have found anything untoward but, in one of those articles I quickly looked at it said to give Omega 3 which I do but will have a better read up tommrow Thanks
