I have a two and half year old pedigree boxer dog (history available), and would like to find out about putting him out to stud. Any information and advice would be appreciated. Our dog has had all relevant health checks and vaccinations.

Have you been showing him and has he done well? He will need to be known to the owners of quality bitches and the best way to get him know is in the show ring. It is possible that you may find an owner of a pet bitch who would use him for a one off litter but I would not advise that as you will have all the responsibilities of the resulting litter and owner of the bitch is unlikly to have the experiance of homing litters or the room to take any that may be returned and you may then find yourself the proud owner of more boxers than you would wish. And it is possible that having had the one mating your dog will not settle back to being a household pet. Stick to breeders with experiance and the way to contact them is through a breed club, through your boys breeder or in the show ring. There are a lot of quality Boxer dogs about who have won well and have been used for stud since they were a year old so you have a lot of catching up to do. All the best. Ja:)ie
