I have been to an open show today and on reflection I just can't understand the just me attitude that some folk have.

several of the rings had huge balls of dog hair in them after thoughtless people just chucked hair on the floor after grooming their dogs!
There really was no excuse for this as bin bags were at all rings and even if they weren't why can't people take a carrier bag to dispose of their dogs hair. I would never dream of dumping my dogs hair on the floor for someone else to pick up and it,s most unfair on other exhibitors in the ring who are trying in vain to stop their dogs from chasing these hairballs as they waft through.

On another note  an exhibitor from a different group( who had set up her things in the annexe for the toydogs, nothing wrong in that, just setting the scene) proceeded to very loudly dismantle her grooming table, crate  etc  whilst the toy puppy group was being judged. This startled a few of the pups and the judge stopped for a moment no doubt hoping the lady in question would realise and just delay packing for a few seconds.
As she was so engrossed in what she was doing she failed to notice this so as I was near her I very politely and in a non confrontational way  pointed out that the pups had got a little startled and assumed wrongly that she might stop for a minute.

I was taken aback when she rebuked me and loudly carried on!
I can assure you I am not a busy body who interferes but just can't understand why people can't think of others. Forgot to say that this same exhibitor had previously wandered away from her crated dog without covering it and it has howled in her absence  so I suppose I should have realised then that she had not the slightest regard of others.

Perhaps I,m the one in the wrong for saying something but no one else noticed as I didn't make any grand or loud gestures but this has really left me pondering about how other people tick,so to speak!

I know what you mean -and it seems to be open shows in particular. Certain breeds left caged to bark and howl with nobody bothering to even try to keep them quiet, others leaving bait behind in the ring etc. Very unfair. Personally I always find big felted pieces of fur in my trouser and jacket pockets after having washed them as I always stuff the fur from my brushes in my pockets if there are no bins. So easy to do!!

I agree, my pet hate is those who do a full trim at a show and on occasion use a hair dryer, some venues even have signs up asking people not to shower their dogs - just why can this not be done at home. Last moment tidy I can understand but there should not be a need for full scale grooming.

Also wonder why those who have stalls can't wait for the end of the show before packing up, much clatter followed by the opening of doors, in the winter allowing freezing air into the hall, and the rolling of trollies to load the vans that are backed up to the doors and blowing fumes into the hall - no wonder it is so hard to get people to stay to watch the groups and BIS.

I get more hacked off when people set up very very close to me in a hall, I understand space is limited and we all have to make room but when I literally cannot leave my table because I've been boxed in it becomes a bit silly. I do trim here and there at shows, usually just last minute touches, but other than that it's just a brush and hairspray before we go in. Something I'm worried about is how cold it's getting, think I might pack my bitch a hot water bottle for her fabric crate this weekend!

Another pet hate is people that are unnecessarily rough with their dogs, even in the ring, jerking their heads up very roughly to keep them 'alert', slapping their noses or behinds when they're moving too fast, etc. I mean I realise we all have our own ways of doing things and that different breeds can require more handling than others, but it's very uncomfortable to watch.
