Some of them did annoy me before but quite as much as my adults are well adjusted and socialised and well, adults!
- Dogs being allowed roam with no owner present in parks etc. So far any we have met have been friendly, thank god, but i would still prefer to be able to walk my pup without getting worried that the galloping dog coming towards us is going to be possibly unfriendly, and possibly scare my young and impressionable pup.
- dogs being left in front gardens so that as you walk up the street you cant see they are there until the try to vault over the wall, all growls and snarls.
Great!

Not just dogs I once had a puppy scared by a large black cat that was sunning it's self on the doorstep until we walked by when it flew at my pup and caused her no end of distress. She grew up a cat hatter and more than got her own back but not a situation I welcome.

I agree totally. Not that those situations are much better when your have your adults but I know what you mean about trying to raise your pup without any nasty incidents!! We are the same. But, the other side of the coin is, I now have a very confident 9 month old girlie who could be doing with meeting a 'not so nice' dog. She just assumes that every dog wants to be her best friend!!lol. I'm trying to show her that some dogs don't like the in-your-face puppyness or the galloping loony doing a zoomie straight past, but she just makes another friend!! I'm so glad she is such a good heart.
My puppy was once chased by a cat too, one that actually ran down the road after us to have another go!
My bitch had spotted someone's Collie on their lawn over a little wall as we were walking down to our favourite walk. On the way back she stuck her feet on the wall thinking it would still be there; poor bloke doing his gardening on the other side got a right gobful from her!!

Dogs do not forget where they have seen dogs or cats in gardens previously or a kind human who will make a fuss of them.
My old cocker would come up to Dundee with me to visit my parents and we would go on various walks but year after year he would check out the same spots for dogs, cats or humans, you would think after only a couple of weeks a year he would forget but he never did in the 7yrs we visited before Mum moved back nearer me.
There is a section of our walk where I have to cross the street to pass a house following a nasty experience once with another dog.
There is also a gang of dogs who are let out into our local park. If Lola was off lead when they came out she will inevitably go home with them - they come out of a house which backs on to the park and I have had to go an knock on to ask "Please sir can I have my dog back?" lol

Dogs do not forget where they have seen dogs or cats in gardens previously or a kind human who will make a fuss of them.LOL!!! When I fill up the car at our local supermarket the cashier gives the dogs a biscuit. Now my oldest dog carefully positions himself in the passenger seat as we drive up to the kiosk so he can put his head out the window to graciously receive his gift :). It's a bit confusing for him when we go to a different drive in station, at first he assumed they all had hot and cold running biscuits but he soon got the hang of it.
The other week it was a different person and they'd run out of biscuits and were most apologetic. Diesel was a bit disbelieving but accepted the situation immediately. Today he was pleasantly surprised to see his friend and yes, the free biscuits were back on tap--he leaned over for his, then got in the back so that Jack could come forward for his treat. Order in the universe has been restored :)
Thats so funny!Bless him!

Oh Jay that has made my day :)

LOL claire_41--that's one thing we can all say for sure: dogs make our day every day!
Jay that made me smile, mine know a certain man in the park always has liver cake, and if they see him they all run up and sit till they get their treat. Always amazes me how far away they can spot this man and single him out from other dog walkers. Who needs an eye test !!! LOL.
it is the same when we go to shows dogs left in gardens that fly at other dogs when walking by and it can be terrifying for a youngster when they are not expecting it , but then you realise someone is in their caravan and not even have the decency to reprimand the dogs doing it case of bad manners.
