Pups are now 11 days old ,doing great ,gaining weight ,feeding well but they all have the runs its not to bad but still worrying .Have not wormed them yet was going to wait till they are 2weeks old .Any advice would be great

You say the pups are well and gaining weight, so has mum had something different to eat which may have "gone through" the pups??
- By annieg3 [gb] Date 22.09.12 13:15 UTC
Was mum wormed during her pregnancy??
- By bbgirl [gb] Date 22.09.12 13:17 UTC
no mum just having her usual food
- By bbgirl [gb] Date 22.09.12 13:18 UTC
Yes we wormed her throughout her pregnancy

She did have some goats milk on Wednesday but surley that would not take this long to affect the pups ,would it
- By annieg3 [gb] Date 22.09.12 13:39 UTC
Possibly not. My girl reacts badly to goats milk but her pups seem to be fine but all are different. I would keep a close eye on the pups as they can soon become dehydrated and if the diarrhoeal persists, then you need to have a chat with your vet. If they are still well and happy, he may just recommend worming them as they would usually be wormed around two weeks anyway.

Think i'll pop down to vets and start there wormer today just to be on the safe side ,might get some synulux as well ,better to be safe than sorry .
Thanks so much for your advice annieg3
Will let you know how we get on

Can you take a sample to get it checked out that there is nothing nasty going on, doesn't matter who the sample came from if they are all having the same problem.

Could Mum have picked up and eaten something outside that has gone through the pups, could have been something as simple as chewing grass.

I would be surprised if the vet gave antibiotics without an obvious infection as they are more likely to mess up the good bugs in the bowel. Worming would be my first thing to do and see how things go from there and check for any worms, don't forget Mum too.

Check the pups are not dehydrated, pinch their skin and it should spring back, if it takes a while or stays in a peak then they will need sub cut fluids to tide them over. Has Mum got plenty of milk to keep them well hydrated through this hiccup?

Hope things are sorted soon

Glad to here they are better, sometimes I find that at 10 days they get  to the greedy stage and gorge themselves, hence to much milk = runny poos. No other symptoms, i wouldnt worry.

Have to say that my last litter after giving their mum goats milk about 2 days later they also had the runs so didn't allow her to have it again bless her.
