Mine (longish wiry coats) get a rub with one, or two, of those extra absorbent towels -
here - and then put them to bed for an hour. Ever since they were young they've always gone to bed after a walk so that I could have free time to get jobs done and of course if I need to go out, that's when I leave. They sleep on Tuffies with added vet bed, or cotton towels and dry off pretty quickly.
As one of mine has allergies he is always washed after every walk (to remove pollen in summer and mud in winter) and the others are always rinsed if they are muddy, so even if they aren't fully dry when they get up after their snooze they're
clean damp.
After swimming or torrential rain when every part of them is soaked through, or the house is colder than I like, I have absorbent dog coats -
Weatherbeeta Thermocell Dog Rug - which they sometimes also wear in the car on the way home if we've been to the beach.
Oh and I have two absorbent dog mats inside the door as they come in - Turtle mats - which extend for at least 8 ft and go a long way to drying wet pads, and preventing any of the dogs from slipping if they take a running jump indoors :)
