I am gutted and angry, I went to ask my bitch's breeder about lifting her endorsement and was willing to do all necessary testing, as was in our contract. She told me that one of the siblings has been diagnosed with Addisons. This is where the anger comes in, if I hadn't contacted her for this reason, I woudn't have known. I suppose neither do the other 6 owners. I am not bothered about not being able to have a litter but am now worried in case she develops the disease. At least if you know it is in the line, if you have to go to the vet  he would know where to start looking .Surely the breeder should make owners aware when something like this happens.

Yes the breeder should tell owners of litter mates if one of them develops a serious condition, I can understand why you are angry. Do you know how long she had known?

When my Mums dachsie was diagnosed with a Liver Shunt at 8 months old I made sure she told her brothers owners, she sent me the email they sent back saying he was well but was going to have the info highlighted at the vets, their dam was spayed as it was her first litter, the sire had produced several litters before.

Her sister was diagnosed at the beginning of the year, she had been ill last year and it took a while to diagnose. My girls mum was spayed so there are no other litters to worry about.

I understand your disappointment and anger because you were not told as soon as a diagnosis was made. The only good thing is the breeder did the right thing in the end they could have lifted the endorsement and said nothing.
