I have an 8 week old toy breed, she's 1lb 2oz but over the past 5 days she's not eating much, she's always loved her food until recently and no matter what I give her she sniffs it and walks away, I am starting to worry about her now and I'm not sure what else to do, she's fine in herself sleeping and then playing any advise would be greatful x

That 8 weeks has flown by.

I find that pups have growth spurts when there is no filling them and then everything slows down again. The hot weather has meant my lot have been less active so not eating as much.

What are you feeding her? Have you changed things recently, even the flavour?

Usually scrambled egg or porridge then puppy meat for lunch and royal canin soaked in water not changed anything :-( yes it's flown by and been stressful and worrying :-(

I wonder if she would prefer the dry not soaked now. I remember one pup I had went off his soaked complete big time. So I put it down dry and he wolfed it down and continued to do so.

I've tried everything and shes not bothered at all, shes only tiny so im worried what affect this will be having on her, she ok in herself playing etc, i took her to the vets and they said her temperature is fine and basically see how she goes

is she still feeding off Mum, is she gaining weight?  If so I would not worry.

At 8 weeks I wouldn't expect a daily weight gain, she hasn't lost any weight. The vet must have thought she was the right weight for her build and he/she has had their hands on her to feel if she is too thin/dehydrated.

Have you tried her with tasty things mixed in with her kibble, grated cheese, cottage cheese, pilchards, she may be a faddy feeder and when they are so small you can't afford to leave them till they feel hungry.

Have you tried stuffing a kong, putting her kibble in a treat ball to make things more interesting/challenging?

Look for recipes for "satin balls", high calorie so she doesn't need to eat much in quantity.

Hope she bucks her ideas up soon as she has been a worry for you from the start.
