I wonder if anyone else in the Group can help me with a little puzzle.

Our little girl Loki is now confirmed pregnant - and she is absolutely blooming - her coat is gleaming and long (shame it could'nt be like that at some of the shows where she appeared in her vest & knickers!!!)and she is not the problem.

The problem is that our son's labrador (Gypsy), who was in season at the beginning of July is very restless, and is continually trying to mount Loki. In turn, our male Aussie, Thor, is trying to mount Gypsy!!! Gypsy has a severe case of PMT - and snaps at Thor if he goes anywhere near her ! Our dogs live in the house, and normally, unless the girls are in season, Thor, Loki and Gypsy sleep together in the utility room, and Purdy, being the senior, has her bed in the lounge by the telly!

We have already moved Loki into the lounge, in readiness for her next move into the porch for her maternity ward, and normally would have left Thor and Gypsy together. Gypsy is having none of this, and at the moment is sleeping in Al's room at night, and during the day she is staying in the utility room - but it doesn't deter Thor's ardour - and he sits outside the utility room singing to her during the day, and seranades her from his bed in the utility room at night!

Purdy is still very much alpha bitch, albeit getting long in the tooth, and all the others defer to her - she only "rumbles" at them if they get too boisterous around her, and Gypsy has always been the "under dog" - usually she quite happily defers to all the others - and even our biggest cat!

Has anyone else experienced this - Gypsy isn't showing physical signs of coming into season again so soon - but might Loki's pregnancy stimulate Gypsy's hormones into an early seaon, thus upsetting poor Thor (who is SO in LURVE!!)

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Take Gypsy & Thor to the Vets, have Gypst checked to make sure there is nothing wrong and providing you are not wanting to use Thor at stud for the next few months have him injected with Tardec. Hope it helps. Ja:)kie

Thanks for the advice Jackie - had already decided to have Gypsy checked out, but the suggestion about Thor is very helpful!

I'll let you know how we get on.
