I know there was a topic not long ago but cannot find it. Is there such a thing as a shampoo that actually WORKS to remove yellow staining? I have tried Cowboy Magic and it really does not do any good. I have a problem with a nice looking Papillon who just LOVES to play with the other dogs -including the Malinois and the Cavalier. She does nothing but play, play, play all day long and like dogs do, the others grab her round the neck when they wrestle. Which isn't so bad when it is another Pap, but the Cavalier mouth and the Mali mouths are much bigger so more slobber. This means she has yellow staining around her neck which I am desperate to get rid of! Failing that, any ideas on how to stop a pup from playing........No I'm not entirely serious there!

Hi Marianne, I'd buy 'The Stuff' and spray around the area. The coating will lessen the stain entering the hair shaft and, with any luck the others wont like the taste.
Bathing in any whitening shampoo should be more successful after that.

Just to add -have just ordered both The Stuff and Plum White shampoo (mentioned in old thread) so fingers crossed. :) Just don't tell my husband what I am spending on dog grooming products LOL, he's so used to Malis where all you do is run your hand across their back most of the time. :)

I have to admit I also caved and ordered the plum white stuff. Now just waiting for the dogs to give me an excuse to bath them :D

All systems white lightening is also very good for removing stains.

Marianne I was in two minds at the price of Plum White plus carriage, but ordered it after I had read the other thread.

I didn't really see the best result until the bitch was totally dry. She has very dense pantaloons, and there was a small amount of staining.  I was chuffed to bits at how good my girl looked.  I hope you find the same.

MD10 have recently brought out one.  Don't think it would be any good for my breed but may be for a Papillon.  If you message Noriko she will advise, she's really friendly and now at most of the shows. 

Wow I ordered both items yesterday about noon, from two different companies. Both have arrived already!! Bath time later. :)

Would love to know how you found these items to be. We use All Systems Whitening shampoo which is quite  good buaret always on the lookout for recommended good products that actually DO work. S justo many don't live up to expectation. I have been told though that these products have to be used over a period of time and not to expect too much with just a couple of shampoos.
Also has anyone used Ring 5 whitening spray to groom? Would appreciate others thoughts on the product or similar products before buying something that doesn't work again. I have yet to find anything that works on tear staining if I am honest but for staining on White coats Hibiscrub (The Pink stuff that they use in hospitals) massaged into stain and left for as long as the dog will let you and then thoroughly rinsed is good.
For the tear staining was told at a dog show in the USA that if you put a table spoon of pure tomato juice into the dogs food each meal or add some Organic Apple Cider Vinegar to the drinking water this prevents staining occuring. Worth a try I'm sure!

A belated additional vote for 'the Stuff' - it worked wonders on Henry's pee staining! How did you find they worked?

Interesting little footnote here: After ordering Plum White shampoo, I receive the e-mail newsletter from the seller. The one received this week mentions their Plum White shampoo has been praised here on CD! It gives a link to the thread in question (not this one).

Just found this thread. how did the people who ordered the plum white shampoo find it worked?

With mine, it reduced the staining but did not get rid of it altogether. There was still a noticeable difference though and overall I loved the shampoo, also love the fact it can be used on cats as well and you can buy it both in small bottles and large tubs so I think I am going to use this in future for all the dogs and the cats, buy a big tub.  That will please my husband as he moaned about the fact I have so many bottles of shampoo and conditioner on the side of the bath. I counted and it was 30, most for the dogs......Ooops!!

My routine is as follow: first I always use All Systems Lightening (not Whitening) Shampoo, leave it on coat for 10-15 mins, rinse, then Plum White ( again leave for 15 mins), rinse.
Before the shows I also add conditioner. Depending of the result I wanted to achieve it would be All Systems Whitening Conditioner or MD10 Texture Volume.
My dogs got arctic type, thick double coat. The get very, very dirty frequently incl engine oil stains.
My recommendations comes from many months of research and probably any available product was tested first hand on my dogs. Believe or not, I can make any dog in any state pure white in a matter of hours.

That's where I must be going wrong, LOL, have never left a shampoo in for 15 minutes, five maybe, as by then my back is aching. 

If I take a hand off dog it's jumped out the bath or in summer I do them outdoors with a watering can.

I shall have to try leaving it in that long next time -although with a hyper puppy, keeping her in the bath for over half an hour is going to be fun...!!
