Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Rocks or effective cleaning solution?

I have always had three dogs. Last year we got a male. In the past, all my dogs have been neutered but after reading lots of posts on here, we left our latest entire. I don't know if it is significant but for the first time we have a very smelly garden. I would be interested to hear about the dog rocks too! Or any other solutions to the smelly problem.
Im not too worried about the brown grass - thats the price for having dogs but the smell !!!!

I won't touch dog rocks - I won't mess with the natural pH of a dog's urine, I don't see any way that it's a good thing.

You could train him to go in a specific spot or just water down the patch with a watering can as he goes :-)

Remember you will need to hose upright areas so the walls at about 18 inches or whatever is hsi peeing height.

I think male urine is designed to be smellier, certainly found this when I have had a male to stay.

When my dogs 'go' in the garden I always pour water to flush away. after all if we didnt flush the loo after we went it would smell. i also use Safe4 every morning just to make the 'loo' smell nice. my dogs have been taught to go in a particular area.

I have 2 entire dogs and 1 neutered boy and I find that their urine smells in warm weather IF they repeat wee over the same area.  It's also more obvious if there are girls around...

I have an area of gravel outside the back door which they sometimes use and I just slosh it down with water, it helps if you see them go and get to it quite quickly.  If its a stronger smell then I use Yard Clean - I keep a watering can with a dilute mix for this purpose.  Yard Clean is quite pricey but I use much less than they suggest and it lasts me ages.  I've heard others use washing liquid which I haven't tried.

If they pee on plants I wish to preserve I just use clean water (or saved rain water) and as long as you rinse the area quite quickly you prevent the grass/plant from dying.  Just keep a watering can handy :)

Thanks for all your replies. Dogs a Babe, I have the entire male and two bitches. I will defo try the yard clean. Part of the problem is - in the warm weather , the doors are always open and he wanders in and out having a little pee here and there as he goes (only outside)!!

Have two neutered boys who burn whats left of our grass badly, asked our vet about dog rocks & told he wouldn't advise, especially with dogs that suffer from colitis. Also if I remember rightly they suggest when using them you top up the water bowl rather than change it which isn't something I'd want to do with drooly dogs who get clean water 2/3 times a day.
