Do dog rocks work and worth getting?

What do you  all think of the hide chews,  I have an 9week old puppy and I'd like her to have the veg hedgehogs, toothbrushes etc when shes old enough but wondered what you all thought of the hide chews.

Yes I use dog rocks throughout the grass growing season and find they really do reduce the burn marks significantly .

As for the chews no never give them as my lot are fed raw so have bones which helps with keeping their teeth healthy.

I also give pig ears and rolls as an occasional treat.

I just brush my dogs teeth every day (use people toothbrushes) & I put a drop of maxi/guard on each side of their gums after. They have all sorts of Nylon bones here to chew.

Rawhide I never give- don't like the stuff it gets very soggy and really not safe at all. Chews are not meant to get soggy.

I buy both from my vet clinic
I use a poultry toothpaste: http://www.pawsplus.com/enzadent-toothpaste/prod/58/

I never feed rawhide, think it's too dangerous imo

Think of hide chews as dog chewing gum, horrible.

I genuinely don't see the point in these at all, they DON'T clean teeth, DON'T add nutritional value to a dogs diet, and DON'T last long enough to be a useful distraction.  Stick to fresh fruit and veg instead and consider raw chicken wings for teeth cleaning - and she can have all these now, you don't have to wait for her to be older :)

Hide chews are ghastly, and dangerous when they get soft and flabby (they also stick to carpet like glue).  However I did once get given a pack of flat ribbon hide chews which I found useful whilst grooming - the pup happily sat gumming his chew whilst I worked and I removed it when I finished.  If I left it to dry he could start it all over again next time!! :)

I use Cow hooves for dog chews in this house as I find it hard to get enough bones for all 6 of mine at one time, and really don't have enough freezer room to get one to two at a time until there is enough for all to have one.

My puppies all go to their new homes with one, they are the longest lasting chew I have found so far, but mine are not gulpers, so I don't worry about them getting small and being swallowed.

We have fruit trees and any thicker prunings the dogs love to chew.

I used to use the hooves many years ago. but had a few that 'splintered'. if the dog ate this it would do damage to their insides, so i do not use now.
