Hi,I have been looking after my daughters 2 small jack russell bitches this week, one is confined to a small crate due to a strained cruciate ligament, diagnosed 2weeks ago.
They made a mistake and hadnt left enough food,I would have run out by friday morning so i put it half and half with tinned chappie, thinking that better than the raw meat which was all id got in for my own dogs,as its supposed to be easily digested(the dogs were on aldis foil trays)Everything was fine thursday and friday, but this morning the little crated dog has been sick, frothy white stuff, several times, and also developed the runs, the other one is fine. She seems ok in herself when i take her out to toilet, and thankfully,my daughter is back today.Could the change of food have caused this,or is it more likely shes picked up a bug?and what do i do?shes not had any food today, didnt want any. Thanks in advance.

I no if dogs are not use to the change in diet it can cause the runs- I always switch my dogs food every time I need a new bag and always
add stuff in with their meals. Now they are all used to change of diets and no runny poo's this way.

I would think as long as the lil one is at least drinking and not getting dehydrated then I wouldn't worry as much. Can offer ice cubes, and can
even do an ice cube broth to get something into the lil one's tummy.

T-Bone got very sick awhile back- wouldn't eat- drank very little was almost a week before she started eating again- had her at the vet and
couldn't find anything- she just picked up a bug. Guess they can get sick just like us and not want food- but worried me all the same.

Is she peeing out of her bum? I no you can offer Keopectate to help with the poo's but would have to see how much to give due to weight
of dog.

hope the lil one is feeling better :-)

thanks!Daughter should be back within the hour,,told me not to take her to vets till they get back, but now itl be emergency vet,.I know I panic, and worry too much, but I wish Id taken her this morning,If only to put my mind at rest. She is drinking ,and hasnt had the runs at all since early this morning, and only been sick once since then, but wont eat,and didnt kick up the usual racket when the others went out for a walk.,so clearly is feeling rough!I wouldnt be so worried, but last year when they went away, one of their turtles died, and i ll be getting a reputation!!

oh Pam I sure she will be fine just abit off colour a day of starvation wont hurt and you will be giving her free access to water anyway. The hot weather possibly doesnt help. i am sure your reputaion is intact and little one will be fine.

Chrissy(daughter)said this morning that she just seems a bit "off" ,still wont eat, though.Im still worrying because I know how dogs can hide how bad they feel, and I wont be happy till Ive heard she s eaten something!
eta-although when I took her out last off before they came back, she managed to roar at and chase one of my cats up the garden!
