Topic Dog Boards / Health / 4 month old staffy being sick a few hrs after meals
- By samystaff [gb] Date 08.08.12 20:36 UTC
my four month old staffy had really bad diarrhea then was sick.since then he has been starved then fed chicken and rice and looked to be getting back to normal.then today a couple of hrs after food he has been sick again and is not himself.can anybody suggest anything or has anyone had this with there pup?

You need to take him to the vets as resting his stomach and then giving bland diet hasn't worked.

Could he have eaten or chewed on something he shouldn't?

he's usually pretty good but you know what there like as pups they will put anything in there mouths.going t keep an eye on him through the night.then vets 1st thing in the morning.

Four months is very young to 'starve' - how many meals did he miss?  Although most adult dogs can miss a meal it's not always wise to starve youngsters and they can get dehydrated pretty quickly.  Has he still been drinking?

At this age I'd always err on the side of caution and more than one episode of sickness, or a flat 'not himself' pup, would be a vet visit for me.  Let us know how you get on

Incidentally, was he ill after worming?

He's only very young.  A vet visit is in order, as youngsters can go downhill fast.
