hey folks,
im taking my akita on holiday with me next week to county cavan in southern ireland, im just wondering will i have to muzzle her when out walking? She is extremely docile, any info greatfully received.

Yes. I have never met a dog warden in Ireland though, maybe carry one around to be safe (a muzzle!)

ive been down south many times, infact nearly every month as i go fishing down there and i am yet to see a muzzled dog and i have seen most of the dogs on that list in town centres being walked. I walk my dog with a gencon head harness which is sometimes mistaken for a muzzle, would this do? really dont want to muzzle her tbh, she will never be off lead either.

I agree... I think a lot of people use head harnesses but if push comes to shove they are not accepted as muzzles. I don't know what I'd do if i were you but I do think the laws are stupid.

I would follow the laws from what I have heard about france for example will similar laws they could come down on you like a ton of bricks. Personally I wouldnt take a chance

I think it's just a fine here but don't take my word for it, i don't have a so called restricted breed.
