Topic Dog Boards / Health / Piriton doseage for a westie

Hi All

As you all know Robbie has skin problems and has been up and down with his skin for a few years now, he is under a homeopathic vet and is doing very well but with this high hayfever season we are in he is getting itchy again and i have been advised to get some prition and try him on, just wondering if anybody knows the doseage for a westie on here? I have now found a site that has some in stock so am gonna order some fast before they sell out again.

Thanks
Helen

I have a 30kg dog that takes Piriton regularly.  I recently double checked his dosage options with his vet as he's been suffering quite badly over the last few weeks.  I currently give him 4 x 4mg of Piriton each day but she advised that he can easily have 6 per day...

If you are looking at giving it for more than a few days I'd always double check with a vet to be sure, but I never hesitate to give any of my dogs one or two Piriton for bites and allergic reactions and generally carry it with me whilst travelling.

I was told to give one 4mg tab to my 8lb dachsie for travel sickness, it didn't work.

Glad you have managed to find some
