Hi, just been looking on the dorwest website and I am unsure whether to buy the tablets with just garlic in them or the ones with fenugreek? I want them to act as a preventative to fleas. Never, ever had a problem before but spotted a flea on one of my girls yesterday :-(
I use garlic and fenugreek, when I asked the same question (years ago), I seem to remember Dorwest told me there was a higher percentage of garlic in those than the pure garlic.
Forgot to add.. I have also read that tea tree oil and neem oil are both natural flea repellants too. Does anyone have any experience of trying either of these?
Not every dog (or person for that matter) is able to secrete garlic through the skin after eating it so tablets aren't always the answer. However if you are doing an order with Dorwest Herbs anyway then get some of their garlic juice - a bit whiffy, which of course is the point, but great to repel ticks which is what I use it for (as well as minor scrapes and cuts) and works well with fleas too I hear
Brilliant, thanks for that Rhodach, I am off to tesco later so will get some from there then :-) Will take a look at the garlic juice too, thanks dogs a babe :-)
From memory and experience, garlic needs to build up to be a good flea deterrent. If you have seen a flea, you may need to do something else to get rid of them in the meantime, not forgetting bedding, carpets , settee's etc
Well, have only seen the one but will use a household flea spray to be on the safe side and I am forever hoovering anyway ;-)
Does it matter if the garlic tablets are odourless? The only ones tesco had were and so I didn't get them, assuming that the garlic odour is the main deterrent to fleas? Does anyone know from experience if this is indeed the case?
