What's the chance of finding 12 foster homes in Essex? Very sad story, gay man came home to find his partner of six years dead in bed - an aneurysm. The man who died's family had not accepted or recognised the gay relationship and had not talked to him for six years. They inherit everything and are chucking the man and his elderly mother out of their home and it's perfectly legal - if they had been a straight couple the law would have given him the right to stay. The old lady is going into a home. All three of the family had four dogs each. I don't know what to advise, these are 12 dogs used to living together - various breeds and ages. Don't know whether they can be separated. All are Lurchers and relatives of each other over three generations. He has no idea how long it would be until he has sorted himself out enough to take them back - he is still at the stage of crying himself to sleep. He faces sleeping in his car and will be evicted 1st August. He really has lost everything. I am about to go on holiday so I am loathe to give him false hope that I can sort this out, if you know anyone who could help co-ordinate trying to throw this poor recently bereaved man a lifeline I will put you in

Surely under the new civil partnership laws this could not happen, unless the partner had left everything in his will to family.

i only cross posted, i do not know who did what.
I can only suggest try a gay rights organisation, they are the experts & I doubt this case is the first of its kind.
Legal advice - contest this, apply for probate they should be able to at least put off the imminent eviction for the time being
