We have been given a large pack of raw bacon and can have more if we want it.
We feed the dogs mostly on dry kibble but they have regular meals of fish or chicken ( we dont mix kibble with these meals).
What are peoples thoughts on feeding raw bacon ?
It is in the freezer at the moment.
Thanks

The odd bit is fine but the
high salt content makes it a no no for actual meals.
It's a no from me too. I will give the odd bit of rind or trim but wouldn't feed large amounts. Actually the dogs would have to fight us for bacon, we all love it :)

Soak for 24 hours in water drain and repeat then cook in lots of water it should then be OK to be fed about twice a week but never feed it raw even if it has been soaked.
Why not feed it raw? My understanding is that the worm/cyst which is endemic in the US/Canada isn't here in the UK. So it depends where the bacon is from - I feed raw trotters. Personally, after soaking it well I would feed it raw - probably a bit at a time w/ other meals. I am a big fan of variety.
However, some dogs seem to tolerate pork better than others . . .

Why not feed it raw?Because boiling it helps remove the salt and chemicals used in curing. Feeding raw may be fine I have no idea but as it is not good for us to eat quantities of processed meat and it may well not be a good idea for dogs either.

I would not due to the salt. same with smoked sausages that i know lots like for training. i find there is lots of treats out there without the high salt intake.

I wouldn't worry about feeding it as an added extra to my lot's meals but then it would be shared between 10 of them so less to go round lol.
