Hi I have a 14 week old sbt he is fed 3 times a day on a barf diet. On the package it says to feed 10% of his body weight. I had him weighed today and he is 9.8 kg so that works out at 1 kg of food. Am I guessing right that this is spread over his 3 meals as it seems an awful lot for 1 meal? Many thanks in advance

10% seems high to me. I was advised to feed between 4% and 6% for puppies.
It would definitely be split between three meals.

Puppies do need alot extra compared to adults as they are growing however it all comes down to the individual dog and if you think your pup feels & looks ok as is then carry on as you are, if they need more or less adjust accordingly.

the calaculater says upto. I fed my pup something like 8 - 10% then adjusted to her. yes definitley thats the total amount per day not per meal. Also have a word with your breeder

The 10% refers to 10% of his expected
adult body weight not the weight he is now. If you are working out percentages for his current weight then it is 2-3% of current weight adjusted up or down depending on how your pup does on that amount.

Thought I'd correct this incase anyone tries feeding based on these figures. No way would you feed a pup 10% of it's expected adult weight. That way a 10kg pup could be getting 2 or 3 kilos per day! I have seen a recommendation that pups get 2-3% of expected adult weight, so I think maybe you just wrote this the wrong way round.
2-3% of current weight is the recommended amount for adults, not pups.
Pups need 4-6% of their current weight. ( or up to 10% going by the calculator).
I wonder if the packet of meat referred to in the first post had a high water content (added water) which is why it recommended 10% of current weight per day as the norm.

Guilty as charged :-) Yes it should be the other way round :-)
