Hi all im hoping for a little advice i have a toy breed who is currently 64 days pregnant, She has gained weight teats are large, but shes shoing no signs of labor, she is sleeping alot and been very clingy to me (shes spoilt) more than usual shes wanting to be on my knee all the time. I took her to my breeder who's stud dog i used but she had a feel of her and said theres either one or no puppies, this is her 3rd litter and both times before shes been exactly 7 days early, what would you recommend?

Take her to the vets to see how many pups and if they are still alive.

Only one pup can lead to one cause of primary inertia[labour never starts] because the one pup isn't enough to trigger the hormones which start the labour off.

Over how many days was she mated? Is 64 days from the first mating? Sperm can live as long as 7 days waiting for the eggs to ripen so we never know exactly when the eggs become fertilised.

If your toy breed is the same as mine, being a week early is the norm.  No way in this world would I allow one of these bitches to go over.  Vet - definitely.

If there is one pup and it's dead, you're taking an awful risk.

Hi Thanks for your reply, Its 64 days from first mating and 62 days since her second, shes previously had 2 litters 3 first time, 4 second time, and shes gone early on both, I've booked her into the vets today for another scan & ive asked to be present on this one so i can see myself,shes just been out and has diarrhea slightly there not alot but its slimey.Just knew she could tell me whats going on.

Think id be on way to vets now if she was mine. Just to be safe.

The vets can't see her until 5 so got 3 hours to wait, shes fine in herself at the minute, just need to know whats going on in there, If she is pregnant with one puppy what will they do? can they induce or will it have to be a c-section?

The runny poo may be a sign she is clearing her bowel ready for whelping but I would still get the OK from the vet.

Hope all is well with her :)
