Topic Other Boards / Foo / I am a proud auntie!!

My niece has been and bought a black labrador x springer and she is beautiful! Shes had her for 2 weeks and she is 10 weeks old now. Shes gonna be a handful though because she brought her to my house to run in the garden whilst we sunbathed and she managed to run for 4 hours solid! Shes extremely clever though because she already knows sit, paw and lie down. We were trying roll over and she did get it eventually with a little persuasion. My niece says its hard work though because she wakes them up really early etc.

This is just what I needed to get over my dog broodiness because Ive put myself down for babysitting duties and she already knows who I am and gets excited to see me etc. I feel like a proud auntie!! :-D

Awwww puppies I love em like children I can't eat a whole one  LOL. Enjoy the summer days puppy sitting. I have never seen a springer/lab cross. Whats her name?
- By cracar [gb] Date 10.06.12 08:18 UTC
I was actually biting my tongue cos if you can't say nothing nice, don't say anything at all.
You let a 10 week old pup run for 4 hours solid??Seriously? What are you expecting us all to say?....

>she managed to run for 4 hours solid!

I have to be honest Tracey, I was as horrified as cracar when I read this.  And, although I started to reply, I decided against it for the same reason.  Just because pup doesn't have common sense doesn't make this alright.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 10.06.12 10:05 UTC
Pups, like small children, don't have sense - they need a responsible person to care for them and stop them harming themselves.

.....in the sun :(
Really Tracey, I think you have been a member here long enough to know better than this.  I appreciate it is not your puppy but I don't think advise from you would have gone amiss.

She was playing with another dog while we were having a BBQ and she was getting lots of cuddles and treats as we showed off her sit, lay etc so she wasnt continuously running 4 hours...thats just ridiculous but she was on the go for 4 hours as in she only went to sleep near the end and loved all the attention. We kept laughing at her how she went and laid under the table with her cuddly toy as she looked cute etc. Lighten up guys - seriously! I think I need to leave this forum cos you guys drive me crazy!

In fact I think thats probably best!
- By JeanSW Date 10.06.12 22:10 UTC

>so she wasnt continuously running 4 hours...

Be fair Tracey.  Your actual words were that she was running for 4 hours solid.

Nobody has manipulated the words you used.

No don't leave - if you have read this thread about idiotic dog owners: http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/board/topic/137079.html
then it's clear why sometimes we get alarmed about what we read online! A misunderstanding, that's all :)
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 10.06.12 22:30 UTC
No it isnt, every single thing I post on here gets manipulated in some way to me being a bad person. I am a member of lots of different forums and this is the only one I have trouble with.

God you lot I've just read this post, as usual it's all the same "haters"
you all seem to take everything anyone says as gospel, it's obvious to me that tracey123
was using a figure of speech and not running the pup ragged.
I read this and thought she must've felt great until she checked her post for replies,
and then you lot brought her down to earth with a thud.
Someone said earlier that if you cant say something nice then don't say anything at all,
Well?
I hope tracey123 stays on this forum long enough to read this and take it for the message of support
it was intended to be.
Before you all start to bash ME now just read some of your older posts on other topics to see that when you're
actually giving answeres to questions you're really knowledgable and kind,
but when you're posting stuff like this you make people feel like crap.
It hurts. Think about it.

I feel I need to answer this althoughI really don't want to and won't respond to any further posts but....
everytime anyone sensible on here posts some advice, wether the poster wants to hear it or not, WE get bashed!  Think about it, if a new owner had posted asking if it was OK that her 10 week old pup ran about in the sun for 4 hours and was it OK, what do you think we would have said.  I am deleriously happy for Tracey to have a new puppy inthe family and it is much nicer when it's not yours as you can hand it back but all I could think about was that poor pup! And it maybe hit home a bit more than usual because my pups are almost ready to leave with their new owners and if any of mine did that, I'd soon be bringing them back!!
Most of the others that advised that the exercise session was too much have a lot of experience.  This is what makes this forum.  This is why I use this forum.  But I would never be silly enough to write something like that and not expect someone to say I was being daft!
Tracey, I just read what you'd written.  If I had been there, I would have gave the pup a forced rest inside(out of the heat) the house for a while before another play/training session.

Dawndwn1, What would you have said?  I thought the advice given to Tracey was knowledgable?  No-one meant to hurt her feeling, hence the reason no-one commented on the post but when she posted she was being ignored, I had to say why.  Tracey is not silly and has been on here long enough that I kind of feel it was meant as a WU now.  I hope not but some do come on here to WU the usual 'haters'lol.

Tracey, with respect, after nearly 7 years and over 2000 posts on this forum, I think you know the importance people place on the welfare of dogs rather than the sensibilities of the poster, as well as the need to be accurate. Nobody here has a crystal ball to work out whether people mean what they say, so it's assumed people are telling the truth.
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 11.06.12 10:32 UTC
And that is why I would never put ANY animal in danger. If I thought she was in danger I would have said.

Maybe I should have said 'While we sunbathed she pottered around the garden in and out of the shade with a full bowl of water'.

I am astounded!.

This will be my last post. Maybe if you'd not focused so much on throw away comments you could have been happy for me but then again Im not in the clickly "IT" group.

So long champdogs.

>'While we sunbathed she pottered around the garden in and out of the shade with a full bowl of water'.

That would have been a lovely post. :-) But if that was the case why would you put "whilst we sunbathed and she managed to run for 4 hours solid!" You can surely see the difference? Be fair - we can only read what's posted.
