I got this email from one of my puppy owners - the bitch is 3 & 1/2 years old. They tried AI on her last season but she did not get pregnant. This was the second time:
"***** came into season on Thurs17th May had first blood test on Mon 28th May result should have been back by 12 midday but did not come until 4.30pm and was 8.8 second test done on Wed 30th result was even later coming back almost 6.30pm and was 24.3 they said she should have the A.I. today or tomorrow I rang the Repro Service straight away and got there answering service they rang me back at 7pm and said to bring her in the morning at 11.30am. When Dr ******** examined her her test showed that it was too late to do the A.I. as there were too many white blood cells present and they would kill the semen. She phoned Idexx the lab who did the tests to check the results but they would not tell her anything even when she told them ***** and her owner were with her.

What she has suggested for next time is that I let her know when ***** starts her next season and has had the first blood test result then take her to her when she say's where she will take the second blood sample and I can take it to a lab in near by Cambridge and she should get the result quite quickly that day, only thing then will be if she is not ready I will have to come home and take her back for a third test when she recommends."

AI is rarely used in the UK so you may have problems finding someone who has the info you need.
