Another seasons question from me. My bitch has had her season very late, she was due in Feb after her litter in October but came in mid April. According to people's experiences, will she come in late August like she normally does or will be be six months since her season? It's no problem either way but it would be useful to know in general.

Any help much appreciated. She's normally like clockwork, bang on every six months.

This is a question along the lines of how long is a piece of string ;-) Only the bitch will know when she wants to come into season, (or a male dog if you live with one :-) ) I've had bitches that you could set you clock to, until they have a litter then it all goes to pot, other bitches are still regular as clockwork once they have had a litter, so no real help I'm afraid :-(

I would have said she is about right ...allowing bodily readjustment after a litter in October.

I would have expected one of mine to be a month to 6 weeks late if they had a litter so your girl basically followed that pattern.

The next season should be about the same interval as normal for her, so 6 months from April would be October, or if she goes longer then later..

My girl had her first season post pups when the pups were 17 weeks old, this happened after 2 litters then she fell back into the routine she had with my other bitch, her daughter from the second litter then started bringing the other 2 in every 8 months.

My male is a wee taster so as soon as I spot this behaviour they all get checked daily with a tissue before their first wee each morning, the season appears 7-10 days later.

If she was a 6 monthly interval, which looks like she was, then I suspect she will be due around Oct/Nov???

Thanks everyone, I'm so glad it's normal! That's perfect then, she's back to her old self after this season just gone after being the 'wanton strumpet' as Jean put it, LOL.

Fabulous, I'll keep watch from August till October then and hope she comes in happily. We're emigrating in 2013 so we'll wait until she's had her season before she goes into quarantine!
